Mobs are killed by diamond spikes (which drop XP orbs when they kill a mob), and a vacuum hopper grabs the dropped items and XP. An item transfer node and piping moves the items to the gold chest at left. (A fluid transfer pipe handles collecting the XP orbs, but that is a separate system.)

Items are sucked out of the gold chest by the item transfer node on its top and pushed into the filter pipe. Item filters (nested as needed) inserted into the filter pipe then route item drops:

- The red pipe is the inlet.

- The green pipe leads to a trashcan or matter condenser or whatever to dispose of unwanted drops. Direct drops that are not wanted can be auto-flushed by filtering them to flow down this pipe. (I have this one unfiltered, so that anything that doesn't get sent down another pipe is discarded.)

- The blue pipe leads to the output chest - items that we want to keep but don't need to process go through here, e.g., ender pearls.

- The yellow pipe leads to an autonomous activator, and the item filter for this pipe is set to ONLY allow loot bags. Its "click" face (the one with an animated "mouth"-like opening) faces the diamond chest at right. The activator is set to sneak/right-click, which opens a loot bag out of its "click" face into the diamond chest.

At far right, another item transfer node with nested item filters removes unwanted rewards from loot bags and whisks them away to the same trash location as the green filter pipe.

The entire system uses 20 RF/"right-click," and can be powered by a lot of things. In this example a single Ender IO photovoltaic cell provides twice the required power.

The above is the result of 20 minutes of run time in a 20x20, two-level mob grinder that uses a few patches of cursed earth to "encourage" increased spawns. Five item filters with a total of forty items listed are in use here to discard unwanted items, and the rest here are allowed to remain.

Because of the way artifact items/armor work, they are placed in the chest as their raw values and only become something equippable when they are moved to a player's inventory. Unfortunately this makes it impossible to filter them out via blacklisting if you already have tons of artifact pieces, so the chest will need to be manually purged of excess artifact items from time to time. The other option is to whitelist wanted items via inverted item filters and discard all else, which should also purge artifact pieces. This may or may not have desirable effects, so experimentation is called for.

With a decent mob grinder, this system can provide insane amounts of resources and can be tailored to discard anything unwanted. With proper filter setup, it can also be rendered completely automatic, requiring no intervention aside from occasional collection. It can also be used to push items into AE2 computers or QuantumFlux storehouses or other mass-storage systems.

I use a drawer controller as my input and use void upgrades to get rid of artifact armor.

I don't, but this setup is pretty straightforward so I can't be the first to come up with it.
