To the east of the settlement stands an ancient and powerful defensive wall built in the Italic period, of which there remain about 160 meters, an average height of 4 meters and interspersed in origin by four doors, of which two have survived: the "Porta del Monte "and the" Porta Del Piano "(the latter is covered by an architrave). The Piano door, 80 cm wide, is located in the highest part of the site, while the Monte gate is located further downstream, where the blocks decrease in size, recognizing a different construction technique. The blocks used are of calcareous type, come from the same mountain and are stacked dry. A legend wants to build the megalithic walls from Charlemagne, in reality they were built during the Italic period between the VI and the III century BC.
Frentani was an italic ancient people, in Sannitic orbit. They was Roman enemys , and in that period they oppisite to “romanization” witch arrive years later, infact in the last pictures we can see an ancient roman settlement following to the walls
