I love surfing imgur for science stuff and finding inspiration for teaching. Sometimes a picture just explains it better (and also with humor) than a whole lesson.

I also try to show my students that science is everywhere, literally. We can copy nature and we can transfer knowledge about it to everyday things. Also we can be totally in awe with it's beauty and cruelty.

This is so true. Sometimes what we do with cultures feels like magic and just one of the scientists is a wizard/witch. It never was me, sadly

This pandemic showed nonscientists how science works. Finding something, having a hypothesis, doing research, adjusting the hypothesis, doing more research, adjusting the hypothesis and....
People are so used to take what they get taught in school and read in paper as cast in stone but science is always moving and questioning itself all the time.
With this pandemic people wanted to find stability, but science couldn't give a long-lasting stability, because we did research, in lightning speed I may add, and changed recommendations a lot. It looked like we were jumping around in our opinion, but actually didn't. So sad to see people not trusting science so much anymore.

someone pointed out that plants can grow in space. true. but seeing how non gravity is a problem for forming the right roots (see source https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/news/plants_in_space.html), I guess we can't spin some trees to produce enough oxygen. with those man made leafs you could probably produce more oxygen than with lettuce. my guess.
