Not an April Fool. Happy April everyone!

Edit: The evil company refusing Cost of Living Adjustments is the American cable company represented by the bird with the big tail plumage. They think wages can just stay stagnant and all's well.

Update: Just finished the final interview! They told me I'd hear by Wednesday either way!

2nd Update: So that job didn't pan out but I just did find success! HS Teacher in the house!!! :-D

I hope it’s not for the job I’m interviewing for!

Congrats on your newfound cost-of-living adjustment!

I think too many people become complacent at work. Everyone should always have feelers out.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh hey Amazon has the same opinion on wages! 15.50 is a totes competitive wage and so is totes fair /s

Comcast returned a record $2.7B to shareholders in Q3 2021. Just pointing that out for not particular reason.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

What’s the dream job by the way?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You did the right thing. Best of luck!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's too bad they let you go instead of you leaving them unprepared.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You didn't "complain", you brought up a real issue with merit!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

NAME AND SHAME!!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know you can say their name, right? Also, good on you for standing up, sorry it caused you hardship.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What was the reason they cited for the firing?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Corporate dogma". Probs... IDK i just work here...

People say dream job a lot. The dream job is to work a 9-5? Im confused

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I don't dream of working

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Exactly. I dream of not working, specifically

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My dreamjob is not working at all. Working sucks

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good for you OP. Unfortunately some times loyalty doesn't pay off. But good for you landing on your feet. Keep it going

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those cunts will miss you.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use to work for that company @op! fun fact, they intentionally set wages at 70% market value to keep them repressed. they refused to 1/

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

raise wages in seattle even though it's exactly as expensive as living in nyc (which had a higher paygrade).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow, why doesn't that kind of shady behavior surprise me?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my manager once got mad at me for bringing up that at best, a performance raise of 3% barely covered cola. he's like where did you 1/?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hear that from. I just laughed at him and told him my dad use to be a shop steward at a union, I know all sorts of shit.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guess we will have another 4.2M job changes again. When will companies learn?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good to know about that "American cable company represented by the bird with the big tail plumage". Good luck on your interview!

If they won't pay your rates, they don't get your services. Period.

Waste Management in my area was hiring new drivers for more than 10+ years senior drivers. Most of them quit and started driving oil field

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

WM in my area wants CDL-B drivers and wants to pay $20hr. Gee. Wonder why they cant get anyone? Also 5am starts. lolno.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I assume CDL-B is a certification or licence that demands higher pay than that?

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yup. my CDL-B gets me $30hr when working in the EU, and ~$35hr in JP. In the US many places want to pay $20 or less. Up to $24 at times. +

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Also to help: CDL-B = trucks 16,001+ lbs, no trailer. Think garbage trucks, recycle trucks, propane trucks, larger vac trucks, etc. +

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

CDL-A = tractor trailers. Plus you need endorsements on these for thinks like tanker-hazmat, oversized load, passengers, etc.

U can just say the name of the company. What are they gonna do? Fire u?

4 years ago | Likes 360 Dislikes 2

Like a bridge over troubled waters... don't burn it down....

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

…. He was fired for asking for cost of living adjustment. The bridge was already burned

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I see you have only ever lived near gently disturbed waters, how nice for you.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

The fuck does tht even mean. U dont burn bridges at a job u r leaving, not one u got fired from. The employer burned tht bridge. If op wants

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

To rebuild it then thts on them. Tht manager wont rehire him. Or do u regulary see ppl hired and rehired at the same spot?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Even if they have no actual legal action to take against you, they can still sue you and make you look bad enough to lose your job offer.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Then to get compensated for that, you have to pay a lawyer to file a lawsuit against them which will take at least a year.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's Comcast

Yo fuck Comcast, pieces of shit. You made out better my friend

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This comment makes you my friend.

Reminds me of a Hedberg joke. "I'm not allowed to say what hotel I'm stay in at but there are 2 trees involved."

4 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

Ahh yes... Hilton

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, that reminds me of when I got the phone number of a hot receptionist. Her number was zero.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"single tree?" "no." "double tree?" "yes. Meeting adjourned!"

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I was hoping for triple tree. We were almost there!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They can sue for libel

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 9

but no money

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Libel has to prove u intentionally lied. If he believes thats why he was fired and was fired thts all there is to it.

4 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Unless it's true

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Truth is an absolute defense to libel.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just remember, it’s not a lie if you believe it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But they'll lose if @OP is telling the truth.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

$10,000 later, OP will win, without recovering attorney's fees. Unless it rises to whistle blowing, it's best not to openly publish it

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not really. Libel is crazy high bar to establish and a lone rank-and-file employee is not going to be worth their own legal bill.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

True, but the threat alone is usually enough to stop the (former) employee. It's expensive even to win.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Companies with attorneys on retainer look at legal expenses as free, it's already paid for

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What legal bill? The company has staff attorneys for this stuff. OP would be the one who has to pay additional money to hire an attorney

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Can likely find an attorney tht will countersue for legal fees if they r gonna try and use a libel suit against someone on imgur

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Also there r court fees, not just attorney fees
