DopeChicken
Faster than you. I don't use a mouse
Mamaof2QTs
With alt + = you don’t need to highlight. Just put it at the bottom of the column. Plus if you filter then do it you get a 1/2
2/2 subtotal formula that updates to whatever you have filtered.

I prefer a Shortcut Cheatsheet. I don't need a long video, thanks.

The first one: you don’t even have to highlight the numbers you want to sum If they’re in a continuous list, hit Alt + = in the next cell

Poor practice to hide rows and columns — group them instead.

Normalize your data and get out of excel. So many better tools for data management.

Okay… I'll try that… Will Alt + Hyphen insert total difference?
ArtificialAardvark
How the FUCK did you know I googled this shit earlier today? WTF.
BillHubbard
I prefer Google sheets.

List recurring dates for weekdays: a1:Monday's date a2:Thursday's date a3:"=a1+7". Mark a3 and extend the list.

Favorite excel moment: Interviewer wanted a non-hardcoded formula that, when dragged, would have one variable go horizontal and one go vert

Or just use numbers

It's pretty quick to uninstall it and install Anaconda and do real data science with Jupyter, Pandas, etc.
AGrammeIsBetterThanADamn
(that and....when your boss hands you an .xlsm, where is your god now?)
df = pd.read_excel('C:\\your_path\\test.xls', sheetname='Sheet1')
Well sure that gets the data out, but none of the VBA functionality, and he worked hard on that, and he's gonna be pissed if you nuke it all
You use Anaconda instead of just vim and working out of a venv at the command line? Scrub
Ew, how 20th century. Notebooks are taking over the world! And conda > pip.
I can acknowledge it, but you're going to drag me kicking and screaming into the new millennium

Actually pretty useful. If you can work quickly in excel, older generation bosses may actually be pretty impressed.

If you can translate those Excel skills to Access and database management, you've got a sword among knives.
HarryHighpantss
As an older generation boss, I would definitely be impressed. I suck at Excel.

It's funny, I get more use out of my old gaming mice, keyboards, and gamepad for things like excel and autocad than I do for gaming.
Used to do a bit of work that used a lot of key macros, and i had this thing. Was/is a beast.
** it's called a Microsft Strategic Commander, you can still get them on ebay, but making them work on windows 10 is dicey.
Neat looking. I have a Logitech G600, a G13, a G700s, and a Corsair Vengeance K95, for a total of EIGHTY programmable buttons among them. :)

I have had two gaming mice like that. Was I supposed to use it with Calculator? :D
Heh, I find it handy for Imgur. Next page, previous page, save, upvote, downvote, favorite, next tab, prev tab, all at my thumb.
