As someone who plays Ingress, you're welcome. And this makes me glad I never picked up Pokemon.

I judged Pokémon Go "not worth my time" on launch. My parents are still playing. Mom just called, she's the happy new owner of a Moltres.

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I'm so incredibly jealous no one in my family has ever cared about pokemon. To be able to share that with them would have been amazing.

My dad reached level 40 about a month ago. It's insane.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

HAHA, I'm not that crazy, but my son would probably say some of this. When we first stared I would ask.. What is this poop shadow? EKANS!<

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

>It's an EKANS dad.. not poop! I don't know any of the names and sometimes make say them wrong or make shit up, on purpose,to get him going

This was worth the read +1

I play Pokemon in the MD/DC area and I know a few men that fit this description. Suprising amount of older players in my area.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't know what I expected but that was amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Oh! And I love the random unnamed Snorlax in the middle of the Gyarados navy

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought I was crazy for evo'ing one Gyarados, holy moly.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My friend dragged me to a raid yesterday and I was easily the youngest person there, I'm 24. And about 30 people showed up for the raid

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My mom ladies and gents.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My dad is the same way. He also calls rattata "ratatat"

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My friend calls it "ra-tah-tah."

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wait, is that not how it's pronounced? Eep.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Older people who didn't grow up with video games getting excited about video games is one of the cutest things.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I love how his Pokémon are all named with some sort of ID system, and then in the middle is just "Snorlax".

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

First letter is from the Pokemon's name. Two following numbers are its IV and the last three pairs are IV values.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That dad is regressing so hard into a virgin he will create a paradox and OP will cease to exist

9 years ago | Likes 172 Dislikes 19

I came back to upvote/reply to this. Severely unappreciated comment right here.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Gold.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

This needs more upvotes.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Why isn't this the top comment?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm crying rn. This... this is beatiful.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 3

What is happening behind this crying person?

This story makes me SO H A P P Y!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is my mom. I didn't grow up with the show, I was 21 when it came out. She's just vicious and she will cut a bitch who takes her gym.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Team Instinct! Ftw ! Level 30 pokedad here ! Play everyday.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A highly active game like this wouldn't be a bad addiction to have

9 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

I honestly love the short term reward of hatching a couple of pokemon eggs for doing the days cardio. Def. worse things out there!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You spend no money and walk around all the time, seems like a pretty good one. THe only concern I'd have is doing it at work might effect 1

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

your performance but I'm here right now at work so who am I to judge. 2

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yeah, maybe don't browse Imgur mid-surgery?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I've lost 70lbs since I started playing, no shit. Part of that is walking, the other part is being too busy playing to eat

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That is amazing, congrats.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My mom lost 40 lbs

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Atleast he's going to be healthier? Make sure he walks properly atleast (ya know, water, watch the sweat etc)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

.....this man brings shame to us all who grew up with this series....beautiful

9 years ago | Likes 1624 Dislikes 3

Truly dad-icated.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

THAT'S IT! DISHONOR! DISHONOR ON YOU! DISHONOR ON YOUR FAMILY! DISHONOR ON YOUR MILTANK!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

you know someone is a competitive pogo player when they start naming their pokemon like that too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll take full responsibility for me being a failure if that man makes me his apprentice!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't talk shit. I got a living pokedex. My friend got a living SHINY pokedex, all which are legit.

Gyarados*

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I pronounce is jyrapados

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh gosh thank you

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

surely it's gyrados?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm still confused why the dad called the kid "babe"

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

I didn't even notice that... but, then again, my dad nicknamed me 'Mistake.'

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

babe = baby

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Had 18 people roll up in minivans and stuff for a Moltres raid near me yesterday evening. PokeParents FTW!

9 years ago | Likes 355 Dislikes 1

I played for like 2 months got bored. My mother has been playing constantly and goes out and raids with a group of people who literally raid

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 hours a day. She had me install discord. "Is it safe? Will they be able to track me? I really want to get an articuno, so I hope it's ok."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've got a discord with some radars for my area. It pings off a legendary and everyone chimes up like the seagulls in finding nemo

9 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

I walked to several Moltres raids near me yesterday... I was the only one there at all of them. Feels bad.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah I couldn't get an Articuno and won't be able to get any of the others either. No Pokestops or Gyms where I live and nobody cares

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I missed Articuno because my friends are all working over the summer, rather than being in school like me. Here's hoping I get a Moltres!

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Ugh. Part of me wants to get these guys before people stop showing up to the raids. Part of me just doesn't care. So conflicted

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Use Discord, I only know 1 guy who still plays, we went Saturday using Discord and got easy 10-20 people a raid.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's basically just a group chat for gamers, refine it to Pokemon go and then you're area and boom.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's being the best he ever was!

To catch them is his real test to train them is his cause

9 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

He's been travelling across the land, searching far and wide...

Pokedad!

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

There are a lot of us pokeparents out here. The raids have made it clearer.

9 years ago | Likes 548 Dislikes 5

Our raid group is mostly parents, though to be fair most have young kids. Some have teens though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my mom (now 55) would NEVER thought of playing it on the gameboy back then. now shes level 31 and going NERDY AF!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

she once shamed me for knowing all the 151????? lmaoooo

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep, I actually feel like I see more parents and grandparents doing it than people my age! (I'm 28)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dude, I show up to a raid half of the people bring kids, some of whom are players in their upper 20s.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Kids are usually low level and suck in raids, so I'm grateful for that lol

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm 21 and I rarely come across anyone under 35~ during raids. Sometimes parents with like 6 yr olds.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What is a raid? I haven't been able to update it for 6 months and it won't let me play

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whenever I go to raids it's mostly adults, sometimes a few teenagers. I saw a younger kid with his dad once.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I never was exposed to pokemon before imgur turned me. Lvl 37 and i take my daughter along to play.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dad would've been a pokeparent if they hadn't blocked rooted phones. Now he's an Ingress man.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yes indeed. Most Raid battles are guys my age. Old fuckers.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

easier to drive to a raid battle than ride that sick BMX bike there.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Download Discord on you're phone, allows for group chats in Pokemon go if you just find the channel for you're area. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Easy to set up raids this way with random people in you're area, I would have never caught Lugia or Articuno without it. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Last week my son and I walked 22 km (half a marathon) in a day playing pokemon. Anyting that can get a 11 yo outside for that is ok

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

What is a raid?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's when the horse can see. It does not matter whether anybody else can see. THAT'S A RAID!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

A feature added earlier this year. An Egg with a timer shows up at a Gym, when the countdown finishes, the Raid boss shows up. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It stays for an hour, and up to 20 players can work together to defeat it within 5 minutes (it heals to full after that).

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was shocked when I saw a lot of them in Madrid. And It was funny and exciting!

9 years ago | Likes 126 Dislikes 0

What are they like?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fun and amusing, mostly the oddest group of 10-20 people you would ever see together talking passionately about Pokemon.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Madrid, Iowa?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does lowa mean? (Sorry for my english)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's kind of hilarious... That's like saying Stockholm when you talk about the one in Wisconsin

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems like the people who actually stuck with Pokemon Go after the hype died down aren't the ones who were already die-hard Pokefans before.

9 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 0

I've never seen an episode, never played the original games...But I'm level 31 and I play every day.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Die hard fan here, grew up with red and blue, level 33 now.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah, Pokemon go isn't really like the Pokemon games that we grew up with, so it makes sense

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

It's a good introduction into the video gaming world because it involves getting out, and it doesn't require a lot of time.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Agreed. It's a gameplay style that doesn't seem to appeal to most gamers for some reason but does really well with other people.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Going outside doesn't appeal to most gamers? Shock of the century right there.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait, I'm a gamer and I love going outside; hiking, gardening, swimming, etc! Still haven't played Go yet, 'cause it costs too much in data.
