Today's Tiabeanie Tax; Cinna-bean! Bean doing her very best (and sleepy) impression of a cinnamon roll.

Getting this one out early before the pain gets too bad. The only thing I have to look forward to today is that it's a weekend and the building company can't harass us. I don't get to have a break from the cleaning and preparing to move things, but at least we don't have the building stirring up more bullshit while I try to make my head stop pounding. I wouldn't expect too many crazy updates over the weekend. Two days of breathing space, so we probably won't have any massive changes. Just trying to figure out the same shit.

See you all on the flip side.

EDIT: Well this is just wonderful. Talking with our housing advocate, he's pretty sure we would lose whatever battle we start. So it looks like we're going to have to move anyways. No matter what it seems like we're going to have to find money for a storage locker and get all of our belongings out of here. This was supposed to be a relaxing day and now I just get to stress for the weekend because it looks like the scumbag company that owns our building is using loopholes to fuck us over and there's nothing we can do about it.

I hope you post the next one! Things get a bit spicy IIRC.

I worked on the other side of job fairs just long enough to realize they don't actually hire anyone from there. My boss literally said, if they were worth hiring, someone would have hired them already.

I have gotten a job from a job fair. It was an internship with a big tech company during my MBA. That's pretty rare, though. Generally my company always hired interns that were referred by employees. I don't think that the large companies hire from job fairs. I think it's mostly small, local companies.

what's the point of making a job fair then? when and why do they hire anyone if everyone good was somehow unavailable? that is total horseshit

publicity. If you're "hiring" you're growing, right?

Yep. There's a lot of ghost job listings where the company wants to look like they're hiring because investors like it. But they don't actually hire anybody.
