I finally watched Dune & Dune 2 on Saturday after eating some gummies. I really enjoyed them.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Me too, and I was sober!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But what did you think of the films?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I see what I did now.

I enjoyed the films...and the gummies.

Lovely Feyd...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Turns out Sting's tantric yoga steam bath ran late, so Lynch just put it in the film

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

This is your general reminder that Sting had *no* fucking clue what was going on for the entire movie.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They met at a codpiece party, and David Lynch invited him to come hang out on set, maybe help run some lines. "No, you can totally wear they codpiece, it's cool. Mine? Cleaners, spilled hot sauce on it."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a quote from Sting to the effect of "Oh yeah David Lynch asked me to come out and like I love David's work it's incredible so I said of course I shall no worries just tell me what to do."
He genuinely had no fucking clue what was going on and I love it.

This is the kind of anecdote that's so awesome, you'd think Hollywood would just fund his movies on his terms just for the parties and anecdotes. They live for that shit

#16 i had actually only read part of dune when i saw the movie, so i kept waiting to read about the weirding modules and how it was going to rain. Really, Lynch departed so much the ending wasn't even spoiled

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think those “weirding modules” were so stupid…

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they were. Lynch just didn't want "kung fu" in space, and this was waaay before crouching tiger and the matrix elevated fight choreography. I certainly had forgotten how bad the fighting was in any movie before Yuen Woo-ping. It was either bad punching, or some kind of martial arts, also usually cheesy. It's just painful to watch most of the movies with "epic" fights now

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, hocking electric loogies worked sooooo much better...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, i didn't say it was better. This is David Lynch .

Can we.... Can we talk about that sway as she's walking away?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Her name is Peachjars, she's on twitch and she does.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s called a bilateral Trendelenburg Gait pattern and is indicative of hip muscle imbalances, often a weak gluteus medius

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not exactly, there's videos of her walking normally. Either she's simply walking downhill in uncomfortable clothing, or she's attempting a "sexy hip sway walk."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want to know what she has implanted in the back of her head.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's an 80gb hard drive.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Could just be that she's wearing a bald cap and that's something that's keep her hair in place underneath.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm currently reading God Emperor of Dune... it's fucking weird. Messiah and Children were pretty good but I'm not so sure about this'un.

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I first read it as a teen when it came out and I didn't know what to make of it. But it stayed with me, I kept thinking about it afterwards, and I read it again a decade later and loved it. It's deep.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Keep reading the series long enough and it turns into Brian's weird Duncan Idaho slash fic, so, there's that to look forward to.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Cut your losses. You have extracted all the value from the series already. Put it down and walk away. (This will give you time to start reading The Expanse. )

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Everything after Children of Dune is batshit. Rereading these as an adult was pretty tough. At times I had to go back over what I just read to fully grasp the sheer nonsense I just read - IMO

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Man, I actually enjoyed GEoD way more than Messiah and children. Although the mononymical Dune obvs is the goat.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Keep in mind it was intended to sort of bridge the two trilogies, the second of which is unfinished.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I just read Children yesterday and started on God Emperor today

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can stop after God Emperor. It basically wraps up the story and the themes. Following novels aren't worth it IMO.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

This is how I felt. I havent read Heretics or Chapterhouse but I felt God Emperor wrapped up the Atredies story line and I didnt feel a need to read on. I just went back to Dune to read it again.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

tbh I feel like this for the first one. I love Dune but wow I just read the first one and call it a day now

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s how I feel, too.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

God Emperor is the second best book of the entire series. What ever you do, DO NOT read his son's blasphemous works.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Yeah, feels like Brian has this weird need to fill in every blank. Making the whole setting feel constricted and small iso huge, expansive, and at points left to interpretation.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup. I did and was sad :(

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

wait. what is this from? there's only one dune movie with sting, from 1984..... but it doesn't have any of this.... was there only a trailer made for a sequel?

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

looks like it is the 1984 movie, so maybe it's time for a rewatch? :D

All of that footage was in the theatrical cut even, they just edited it together with a specific kind of voice-over and a well known song

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

huh. guess i *should* rewatch. thks!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I actually liked a lot of things about it. Huge fans of most of the cast

I think maybe you didn't see the same version I saw then, because I remember all of this. It's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7hELvCSi4E
