A Tiny Life On The Edge

Jan 5, 2020 7:50 PM

My birthday gift from my husband. Her name is Evangeline or "Eva" for short. Shes a Chi-beagle and she has lit up my life. But the second day home she stopped eating and drinking.

We woke up the next morning and she could barely stand. We rushed her to the vet and found out she was in the beginning stages of parvo, a highly contagious and often deadly virus that attacks the GI tract of puppers.

She gets IV fluids administered every 4 hours since she wont drink, I have to force feed her and she is on anti nausea meds and antibiotics to keep her food down and to hopefully prevent her from getting a secondary infection.

Parvo is like cholera for humans. It's not the virus that kills but dehydration, malnutrition and secondary infections.

We are terrified we are going to lose her but we will keep doing whatever we can to save her. I'm about to see if she will eat today...keep your fingers crossed for us.

We had the same shit happening to one of our dogs. Turns out the guy we got him from was a Breeder. Always be careful when adopting.
