I know I’m looking a gift horse in the mouth here, in that I’m lucky enough to have a job that lets me work from home but this is inane. I have friends in consulting who have worked on public projects and have never heard of this, let alone have had to do it.
In the office I might go a whole week before needing to update my supervisor and have literally never missed a deadline. As soon as we started working from home, all trust went out the window apparently. (It’s coming from Executive level, so the whole company has to do it. My manager is an okay guy.)
I think it’s BS but I also don’t want to lose my job cause getting a job is hard and this panicked economy isn’t going to make it any easier. #CoronaCollapse Y’all have any passive dissonance recommendations?

I definitely understand an end of day thing, but if your company doesn't trust you to work from home, that's ridiculous.
jessiepinkman
me every paragraph: "USING ESTABLISHED GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS PROCEED TO ACHIEVE SYNERGY ON ASSIGNED PROJECTS"
animatronicChristmasChickens
Write a few common paragraphs and save them in a text document. When you need to record what you have been doing, copy/paste

That’s pretty solid and simple. Im a little ashamed I didn’t think of it today. Would have saved me loads of time.
SeriousAnteater
Detail exact time logs including how long it takes you to do your updates final one of the day tally how much time was wasted
Clockworkdancerobot
"After waiting for the code to upload I hit commit. And finally, I spent 10 minutes writing this paragraph.."
DirtPoorFarmerSeedingUsersub
At sone point you can figure out how to build a template in excel or some other program using macros. Schedule it every half hour in outlook
DirtPoorFarmerSeedingUsersub
To send using rules. If you know what you are going to be doing you can fill them out and have outlook send them for you
DirtPoorFarmerSeedingUsersub
Basically automate the step because it is bullshit.
totallyspambox
I would write each paragraph repetitiously, explaining the paragraph is what you’re forced to spend your time on.
aMiu
Make sure you detail your restroom breaks particularly well
Lierofox
"Consistency was loose and somewhat fluffy, the color was that of a banana peel mixed with the exterior or a kiwi fruit, more fiber needed."
aMiu
Exactly
JustAnOldLurker
That sucks, I don't even know how they expect you to get work done if you're writing a paragraph every half hour.

They literally said “since you’re saving time on your commute, now you can do this”
DirtPoorFarmerSeedingUsersub
Haha no
JustAnOldLurker
That's some shit there. Yea, tell them the commute is unpaid, and you're time. That they're losing your valuable time with this tracking.
totallyspambox
Then you can respond with “Nice try but no, because the commute is my time. Unpaid time. My ‘go fuck yourself’ time.”
totallyspambox
“Either you pay me for my commute going forward, or expect less work done because of these paragraphs” What they’re doings illegal

I've had to do this before even when I did work in an office. I put in my outlook calendar what I am working on (project + minor details)1/2
422000
Down in 15 minute chunks. Then at the end of the day it's an easy I spent x time on this project and so on. It made it a lot easier.
superbest
They want us to say what we specifically did on each project not just time on each project.

Yuck. Yeah I'd write out a bunch of options to tweak/ copypasta. The suggestions of including the time you spent on writing it should be 1/2
422000
The from scratch time VS the end result of these suggestions. 2/2
