This is as unusual looking as a bird swimming under water.

You mean penguins? We have those, too!

7 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Moved to Brisbane to thankfully get away from that weather.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Brisbane is the best city in the whole of South East Queensland. Prove me wrong

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look at the one that just boings over the fence whilst the others go round

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It didnt occur to me that it snowed in Australia.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you're out somewhere in the bush and it snows, you get to see just how much wildlife there is. There's tracks everywhere. It's ace.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Also seeing giant rain forests covered with snow all silent is pretty bloody stunning.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

never thought I'd see kangaroos in snow, that's crazy

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait until you see the sequel: Kangaroos in lava!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my dyslexia made me see velcro rabbits at first

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right now. Though spring was rather dry and Juli was the hottest ever measured, again with lack of water.

This looks surreal.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Might not be dinosaurs, but they are just as vicious.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've heard they will eat up to 3 Vegans per day

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the vegetable oils in their blood. Gets them really riled up.

Great idea. How do you feel about spiders?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Annual average temperature in Reykjavik is 4 degC (39 degF)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucks sakes. Live in goulburn 7 years. No snow, ever. First winter away and this happens. I aint ever going to see snow irl... :(

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Snows fun for about 5 mins. You make a snowball, throw it, and then realize how sodding cold it is, and walking is life-threatening.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't worry. Getting out of Goulburn is still a good idea. Fuck snow

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ho ho fucking ho what a crock'a shit

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Coincidence, this is what Santa said to me at the Mall this year

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where does it snow in Australia? O.o

7 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 5

On and around the Snowy Mountains and the Australian Alps. Other highland regions too.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The white bits:

7 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Nah it snowed over most of hobart like 2 years ago, the dots on tassie are too small.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I got sick of pasting: "Climate-wise, the white areas are Alpine, darker blue Cool Temperate, and that's where snow can be found."

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Ah sorry didnt see that!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No wuckers!

On/ near mountains usually. Snowed a few times where i lived. We have lots of mountains

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Near Sydney in the mountains and near Canberra

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On the mountains but only when the weather is juuuuuust right

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I flew over Mt Kosciuszko today - heaps of snow there.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Cooma born and raised - can confirm it goes much further south.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Cooma isn’t even past the snowfields. Settle down.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

If New Zealand is The Shire, Australia is fucking Mordor.

7 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

But Mt Doom is in national park New Zealand. It's real name is Mt Ngauruhoe

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Why didn't they sail to Mordor then, I suspect someones been keeping secrets from the rest of the world.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Huh, so that's what Boromir meant by "One does not simply walk into Mordor" he's saying you can't walk as there's no land route.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not where i live but ive heard Australia recieves more snowfall in winter then all of the snow in the Swiss Alpes.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Could be true, aus is a huge country, total snowfall quite possible

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The overwhelming majority of Australia never sees any snowfall, and a lot of the Alps see snowfall year round.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m in the blue mountains - 90 min west of Sydney (in good traffic) and it snowed here on the weekend

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Snowfields

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I never thought it snowed in Australia, with it being so close to the equator and all.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

It’s just as close to the equator as the US

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My bit is more the north of the US (42 degrees from the equator). 'Straya is a big place.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Victoria,Tasmania parts of NSW

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Omg we have a sizable snow region and season. Buller, Hotham, perisher, threadbo, buffalo. From june-july to october-ish.

7 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 2

It still boggles my mind how the hemispheres switch seasons. As a Floridian I've always associated those months with hell-comparable heat

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You left out Selwyn, Baw Baw, Falls Creek, Lake Mountain, Ben Lomond and Mt Mawson ;)

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah I did. It was a brief example of somesnowfields. There are a heap more.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We had snow in areas where it has never SNOWED this weekend. An unusual cold snap saw snow about 20 min from where I live.

7 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Yeah there was heaps of snow. I had to drive to work through it on Saturday, terrifying when I slid around a corner.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah nah fuck that bullshit. I stayed well away from the calder fw

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn. you been enjoying it?

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

No. It's fucking bullshit

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I support this dude's sentiment Victorian winter is already wet enough and now we have to deal with snow

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Lemme guess - you're an American?

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Pretty much the whole country last weekend! Brrrr

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Tasmania, occasionally in the ACT, Queensland and SA

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

For the record: WA snow http://www.feargod.net/wa-snow1.php

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Occasionally? We legit had an eight month winter and it snowed about 5 times in fbaf period.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That period alone.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think we can take WA out of that list, a little bit of snow on top of a hill in Albany two days a year doesn't really count

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It’s more often than that and there are two mountain ranges that get snow. Porongarups occasionally and Stirling’s several times a year

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only at ski resorts. Barely ever any snow otherwise

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

So, everywhere but the NT

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That’s not true. It doesn’t snow anywhere really but on top of mountains. I’m allowed to say this, I’ve lived in Victoria my whole life.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Snowed in the lowlands of Western QLD this time last year.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Queensland!? It’s like a sauna up there ? That’s really interesting

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Snows in Belgrave area pretty regularly. It’s hilly but I wouldn’t call the Dandenongs a mountain

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Very true. I know it snowed there last year...? Pretty sure that was rare as well. Maybe I’m wrong

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where in Western Australia does it snow? I have hear of it snowing once on one of the bluffs near albany but that is it.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Porongarups occasionally but each year it snows on most of the peaks of the Stirling Ranges. Not just Bluff Knoll.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still counts.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have to remember parts of Australia are only 3000km from Antarctica

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

1,864 in freedom units. That's about the distance between San Francisco and Chicago.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

What’s that in washing machines?

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I read this and was confused, then went to the next post. #inowgetthatreference

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As An American... It snows in Straya??

7 years ago | Likes 867 Dislikes 10

Yup, we had snow on Saturday thick enough to settle fluffily. And some on Sunday, but that didn't settle.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My bloody oath! Snowing in my backyard now mate!

7 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

It's snowing in Canberra right now I think

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Straya’s quite big this is Queensland

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

To really bake your noodle, while this was happening another state had bushfires.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna start saying, 'bake your Noodle' now. Thank you for that.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As an Aussie on the east coast: yes but not here, though it feels like it wants to all the fucking time this winter.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Do you live in the Top End?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

South Australia.. so Mediterranean climate

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yeah sea level is important :)

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

go for a drive, see the rest of the country.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

We have greater annual snow cover (by area) than Switzerland apparently.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Mainly because the snow here is replenished each year whilst the majority of it in the Swiss alps is there year round

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It helps that Australia is nearly 200 times bigger than Switzerland.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Mate you definitely ripped that fact off a pack of tallyhos didn't ya

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I make it a rule

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not really at sea level, maybe Hobart, but it was snowing down to 400 metres this weekend.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We’re lucky to get snow to 500m at the moment. I’m 30m above sea and it NEVER snows at my house and ITS NOT FAIR

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In Hobart, that is. Sorry. Context is important.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wasn’t sure if it snowed in actual Hobart. I’m surprised it doesn’t.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It has in the past, but it doesn’t normally get down that low. Kunyani (mount wellington) is currently covered in snow though.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It must be horrible to shovel snow in that heat.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We get ALL kinds of weather here.

7 years ago | Likes 281 Dislikes 0

Hey, can you get Dr. Blake back on the air? What happened? And it’s been decades since we got a Paul Hogan update. Is he ok?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I miss Dr Blake too. They did make one episode that just had Mrs Blake.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Country AND Western?

7 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

You beat me to it. +1

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It snows about once a year in a small section of New South Wales.

7 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

Clearly you forgot about the Victorian high country and Great Alpine road which is absolutely gorgeous.

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Everything along the great dividing range is awesome really

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And Tasmania as well ....

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

In some places, but this year has been unusually cold. First snow in a decade in some places. Well.. better put, it has been 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

So fucking cold! I am bloody done with this winter nonsense.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Typically cold after a decade of unusual heat. This much snow used to be common. 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I think it even snowed in Queensland today

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Does it not normally snow there or something?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's our closest state to the equator

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I see, thx for the info!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good Ol’ Stanthorpe.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think you’ll find it’s pronounced ‘Stan-Banger’

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There seems to be many more Australians on here than I anticipated.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Th ozone hole is closing and it's getting fucking freezing, I'm used to like 80F°? Winters

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Ozone has dick-all to do with temperature.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Speak for yourself it was like 25c in Perth today, O want winter back

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes but everyone was talking about how cold it was still today.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are ski resorts in NSW and Victoria.

7 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 1

I read that as “Not Safe For Work” And Victoria.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sometimes Victoria is NSFW.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, you're not wrong

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That hardly ever kill people (too soon?)

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Not in the last day at least.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Had at least 3 deaths in Vic alpine country this year. All from pub arguments where someone stormed off into the wilderness. Fucken straya

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Fuckin skiers.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We had an avalanche the other day.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At least we dont get earthquakes that liquify entire suburbs.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The 1989 Newcastle earthquake did exactly this, but it probably didn't help that the city was built over marshland.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Atleast our summer heat doesnt melt the footpaths

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Atleast our schools are safe ♂️

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Climate-wise, the white areas are Alpine, darker blue Cool Temperate, and that's where snow can be found:

7 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 0

It snowed in the Stirlings in WA for the first time in 50 years a few months ago when we had our big cold front.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow thanks!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its like Chile that spans all climate regions. Australian is huge.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can be found on that freezing arse blue island down there

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Put it here brother, north or south?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

South; Greater Hobart area. You?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huon valley

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The land way under down under?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then you aren't hiding well enough.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aus makes sense for the US if you flip it over the horizontal axis. Melbourne, Maine. Darwin, TX. Perth, Washington

7 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I see none of those on that map

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Except that Melbourne summers hit mid 40’s (110-115f??) and I’ve never seen snow in Melbourne, defs no snow in Perth.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Not in Melbourne CBD, but the Dandenongs get snow every few years.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The difference is the southern oceans. All that water keeps us warmer in summer and winter.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lots of rain and hail in Perth though.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian............There are places it doesnt snow?

7 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 2

Vancouver, most winters

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of Africa, Southeast Asia. :P

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a former Floridian I’ve only seen and 20 inches of snow in my 23 years. 16 of those inches were from one blizzard back in February.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. Perth, Western Australia ?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes but we have beaches for thousands of kilometers north and south. Like some of the best in the world.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I do love our beaches!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mexico City here, no snow as far as I Know in 41 years

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Floridian... fucking just kill me god it's too hot.

7 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Wanna like....live in eachothers places for a month or two when its ungodly cold here? Never been to the states myself.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I agree with #youreit. But doesn't everything in Aussie want to kill you anyway?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely should. Some states are so different from each other it’s like being in a different country.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Problem is, in the populated parts of Canada, it’s -40°f and snow in the winter, but 100+°f and 90% humidity in the summer.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've never had to deal with snow for more than a day (not in FL), but the humidity is what kills me. :( Humidity just sticks to ya.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s what gets ya. It’s 8pm and the humidity is 83% right now in Ottawa, Ontario.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yep. And I'm here in Toronto. Your comment speaks to my sweaty soul.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ottawa here. ?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
