I bought gel caps and a pill popper to make it easier, put the pill in the gel cap, cap in popper, dip in water then into the cat.
GrimNyrah
I got away with grinding the pills and mixing with smelliest fish paste I could find. Worked like a charm
girlyBIRB
I work at a compounding pharmacy and we make medicated treats for pets. Might be worth a try.
Strangedays2026
I just learned they do make pill pushers for cats and dogs a month or two back. Might be worth looking into. I'd only ever seen them for1/2
Cattle or hogs, and that might work with a large dog but for most it would be far to big.2/2
sophiescosplay
I had the same problem and the only thing that worked was this puree in a tube, I got Churru but I think there are lots of brands
Arcygenical
Go in the other way. It'll shape up quickly.

Do not do this. Nope. Don’t even consider it. This person is joking with you, dear desperate reader.
RipThemUpRatchet
I break my cats thyroid meds into 2 smaller pieces and hide it in a dab of tuna flavored treat gel. He thinks it's daily treats lol
Dasnekones
I try wrap my cat in a towel to make a cat burrito. Helps with keeping the legs in check
PoppaBigBear
idk if it'll work but get a weed grinder, use it to crush the pill and mix it with their food?
Duckpocalypse
See if there is a liquid version of the medication available. Add it to their food, or squirt it into their mouth.
Quessir
Cut it up as small as possible and spread it through wet cat food, either at dinner or as a treat.
crann
I go the "Shock and Aw" approach. Offer food, when the cat goes for it, scruff, slight lift, pop that bad boy, drop. Works most of the time.
My wife is a vet and I do most of the pilling at home. We run a geriatric ward so to speak, so plenty of pilling.
SpaceHaggis
Good luck, we're all counting on you
scubaphoenix
If the tablets are flavoured you can break them up with a few broken up treats, that's how I got mine to take their pills

It's all about the pill pockets.
cinematicheart
Cream cheese the brick kind not whipped. Right in the roof of their mouth
TarrkertheNewt
Grind it up and put it in their favorite food. Small portions so they take the entire dose. Not always possible but, it's an idea.
ImScaredToGiveYouMyRealName
See if your vet can get the drug compounded into a transdermal gel that you simply apply to the ear flap (not down in ears). Much easier!
dedpaen
Pill pockets are a much better solution than the “towel burrito”.
amigothedevil
What end do the pills have to go in
stercusmoriturussum
There are things that help - one trade name is Easy Pill Cat. A sachet is usually good for 4 to 6 servings, so you can use a few duds first
masiakla
I used to use tablet syringe, if cat objects, it is getting wrapped into big towel. Syringe need a little training to not damage the cat

“Pill Pockets”(tm) were a game changer for us
AFelineMassofEyes
My beast loved smoke flavor, so I had to buy the ones for dogs & cut them in quarters
BatLadyRielle
worked for my cat for a while, then she started eating around them and spitting out the pill.
Kazooski
My dog knew with cheese, pill pockets, peanut butter, anything, even ground up. I forget how but fucker gets crab cakes now.
someonewakeuphicks
They used to work wonders with my cats… now we just end up with a damp pill on the floor
Pining4TheFjords
If your pet spits them out and you end up pilling them anyway, use a tiiiiny piece to coat it so it is less bitter when you pull them.
callmethelizardqueen
The pill my cat takes is a capsule that barely fits down her throat. I have to shove it & if I don't get past her tongue she just spits it
helenfrankannekeller
Have you tried dumping the capsul contents into a pill pocket or some peanut butter? My cat loved the kong spray cheese stuff
out, later when I can't see she didn't get it.
stealingotherpeoplespetsismyjam
My cat loves EasyPill putty! Tiny bit round the tablet and she eats it right up! She had asthma so great for her drugs
CyranoDeBurlapSack
They do not work for my cats unfortunately. But they did for my previous cat
Badprenup
Worked for one of mine, not the other. But the one it didn't work for let me shove them down its throat with little fuss
Dishware
Try cream cheese. Some of my cats really don't like the pill pockets but love the GNC ones that are currently hard to get. Had some success
With cream cheese
Bravery medal goes to Badprenup
Billis75
Is the medication able to be put into a liquid by a compounding pharmacy? I've done that for 4 different meds.
md22mdrx
This is my literal job. Human hormones and vet products mostly.
Do you guys also do medicated treats?
Our place hasn’t. Just liquids, topicals, and capsules. Looking to start it tho. Will have to do the PCCA training as treats weren’t taught

Every vet clinic can order this, but it can get very expensive

I'm a cat and I like to have meds in ground salmon or similar. If you quarter or more the pill, I might not even know you did this to me.
CrossBetween
Yes you would. I can get you to eat this pill by waving a magic wand that is a cat meatstick. Just watch. You want salmon, you be good, cat!
AllAboutThatSpaceBoutThatSpaceNoTerra
How the shit did you type that?
vindik8or
You may be a cat, but you're clearly not my cat.
IJustReallyLikeFrogs
I tried. My cat will refuse any food with ground pills in it. Acting as if I'm trying to poison him.

How to get mauled by your own cat in one, simple step.

Well this is why you only wash one cat at a time and don't throw the shampoo on them...bathed cats for 14 years, it's a process.

Heard its all about the water temp
That too. I started bathing my cats when they were young so they tolerate it better. If it's an older cat I'd be wearing welding gloves
MentalUproar
I had a cat that regularly stank like ass and needed baths. If she could dig her claws into my leg she would settle down….
My current cat is more like a wasp. Multiple, repeated claw marks. Fortunately she smells better and rarely needs baths.
