The one on the right with a jacket full of sponsors (what the fuck, in this context in particular) is Matteo Salvini: italian politician, leader of Lega Nord (North League), a far-right party that was a joke and embarassment for years, until it "inexplicably" rose in recent years (well, I could explain, but I don't have three decades to spare, right now), other than being involved in stealing over 40 millions € (of course no one was ever jailed, just like in Trump's tale), taking Putin's money under the table (like many other rightist anti-european politicians in EU, and again no jail for anyone despite the open treason), joining fascists publicly, keeping ships full of african refugees on the sea for weeks, denying docking, while there were ill people on board... just because he doesn't like to look at skins with "funny colors", and on and on with a lot other nice things this wonderful person and his glorious party have done with their utter incompetence, hindrance to everything that would help people, and hate for non-whites, LGBT+, and the whole stereotyped hate-kit of fascist minus habens.

Salvini was also one of two contemporary vice prime ministers for a brief time just before the pandemic, in a truly absurd government configuration that ended when he thought (backed by polls of the time) that he could get all the power for himself (he even openly said: "Italians, give me full powers", let that sink in), but failed epicly; and I really wish I had the time and will to explain the full context of this beacuse it was hilarious and tragic (whereas most of the other things were just tragic, although always great meme material). On a side note, thank the Gods he was gone before the pandemic, or the situation in Italy would have been a real disaster.

Anyway, getting back to the context, Salvini went to Przemysl (Poland) a few days ago to "show solidarity" for the victims of the war, and other hypocritical chit-chat.

Worth noting that over the first days of the russian invasion he tried any way he could to avoid having to condemn Putin, always trying to divert the talk on how he was worried about italian families and the costs they'd face; only in the latest days he started talking about how "ugly" the war is and how he loves peace; still never openly condemning the psycho, and of course never even trying to tell his sugar daddy to stop.

The one on the left is Wojciech Bukan, mayor of Przemysl, who "welcomed" Salvini by reminding him how he was sympathizing with Putin just a few years ago, wearing that t-shirt while "covert" war (add a million of hypens to that "covert") was already going on in eastern Ukraine, under media silence, after the Crimea shit.
The mayor called him out publicly for his hypocrisy and told him he had no respect for him, inviting him to go to Ukraine and openly condemn his daddy Putin.
Needless to say, Salvini just walked away with the proverbial tail between his legs, while even other italians attending the meeting started to insult him.

Way to go, Shittini!

And do I even need to comment on this?

EDIT:

1) Here's the video link, courteously fetched by @omadonnadellerose as you can see in the comments.

2) My bad, I called the party Lega Nord and forgot that in relatively recent years it changed its name to just Lega, in a clumsy attempt at washing its image; the "north" bit in the name was a strong part of the group's identity, as it was born in the north and wanted the northern regions to become independent from the rest of Italy, especially the south that they greatly despised (and still despise).

Not that the washing didn't work... these clowns somehow managed to get a great deal of consent even among those southeners that they were insulting five minutes earlier, but what can you expect? Racists come in every shape, and through racism they gathered even those people against the "african invaders", building a narrative that even pushed some unhinged idiots to the public shooting of black people on the streets (shootings of that sort are luckily an extremely rare occurrence in Italy, where gun control is also in place; the closest thing is mafia shootings/excecutions, which also are apparently becoming increasingly rare, luckily).

3) After his "fall from power", Salvini has kept losing popularity, but unfortunately, as always, that popularity didn't just vanish into thin air, it just moved to Giorgia Meloni of the Fratelli d'Italia party (Brothers of Italy), and... well... I told you Salvini joined fascists publicly (calling them "brava gente", "good people")... Giorgia Meloni was instead in a fascist party herself, then flowed in a more moderate party (not so moderate, but let's not go down that river) that channeled most of italian right-wing, and then, in relatively recent years formed her own party that understands how bad it looks to associate themselves openly with fascists, but still tries to cather to them. A recent (last year) journalistic operation even uncovered a whole branch of the party that was full-speed nazi-fascist, having "nostalgic" dinners and events, joking about shooting african immigrants in the sea, suggesting propaganda with prostitutes, and a whole range of illegal operations to gain political power. Once again, guess how many of them got in jail, or if Meloni ever condemned them or lost her position and consent...
In any case, she's one of the sadly possible future prime ministers.
"Yay, the first prime minister woman!"
"Yay, she's a fucking nazi-fascist!"
If that happens, you can expect some batshit crazy things from Italy in the future.
Hope there will be nothing negatively noteworthy to report.

I like the thing with the sponsors on the jacket. They should all be mandated to do that.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

The more money, the bigger the patch.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, the post-WWII Italian constitution was not a destruction but a change on the fascist constitution which preceded it

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The US has Agent Orange and Tucker Carlson + lots of Republicans, (not all) Italy has Salvini, US doesn't have a monopoly on traitors.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Matteo has read no history, people like him come to bad ends in Rome.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That's a warm, comforting thought - unfortunately, it typically comes only AFTER they have done immense harm.

Salvini is a piece of shit. Hope he climbs back into whatever hole he came from

The downfall of Putin is going to leave a lot of political wreckage in Western countries.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We hope so.

always remember kids, there is only one way to deal with fascists, and is not voting them out ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm a 'joke' party Gaining prominence... Sounds like Ukip in the UK.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was exactly like that. Same sponsors (Putin and billionaires that fight against taxes and transparency), same goals (destroy democracy).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP - best regards from Germany. Fuck Salvina, fuck Lega Nord. And alike all those other Kremlin sponsored fascists in Europe, fuck AfD.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bannon's student. Talk in parliament for 10 minutes about Ukraine war without say Putin not even once. Lega was the first party in Italy(omg

4 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

So you are saying that fascists scum is working together to get countries power to subvert any improvement or change for the better. Shocked

4 years ago | Likes 230 Dislikes 1

Changes for the better imply everyone has more stuff and is less desperate, diluting their power. Win-win until they betray each other.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And make no mistake, they always eat each other eventually. But while democracy exists, they can usually mutually benefit.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also to split the EU to make it easier for Putin to expand and conquer. It's not even in their self interest, they get played.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Same with the German AFD. fuck fascists!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Italy here. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omYObzabvug Watching salvini make a complete ass of himself at this level? Priceless!!

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Damn I don't understand the language but this is still satisfying AF to watch

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can You tell us more about this jacket full of sponsors? I, being a German, find this very very odd. Are this really his sponsors?!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The jacket is of a non profit that many politicians (and the sponsors) give money to. Salvini chose to wear that jacket in that occasion

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Sponsors were very pissed for the association with him and distanced themselves from the guy and his pathetic show

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

Isn't it weird that these far right people started getting louder when Trump got into power?

4 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

False cause. Alt right elements having been gaining ground for over a decade, Trump is a symptom of that, not the cause.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ya seems like maybe a league of fascists has formed and are trying to work together to take over all our countries.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

TBF he was always loud in Italy, i think what happened with Trump made the rest of the world take this kind of moron more seriously :/

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Far rights been on the rise in Europe for years before trump got into power. Not everything is about the US.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

You are wrong, yes they were there, but never so loud. Before they were a little scared and people would be shamed to vote for them. Not now

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

It opened the Pandora box, and gave all the scared but potential fascist the validation to speak up and be loud. Basically the green light

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Bollocks. Wilders, lepenn, Dewinter, orban, the list goes on, all huge open followings.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I feel like Wilders is nothing compared to Baudet though, in terms of open fascist rhetoric.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He got softer over the years which is where Baudet gets his followers from.
