In the woods with a bear or an odd dude. Humans do some really messed up shit to eachother when they put their mind to it... but very few of them are hundreds and hundreds of pounds of muscle, claws, and jaws. When nature decides to throw hands, we're outclassed. Personally Id choose the weird dude. Best case senario: I add to my list of weird friends. Worst case: Ive got a fighting chance to be the one still standing.
But statistically speaking the bear is WAY more likely to wander off than attack the person. The scenario as I understood it isn't that the woman is like dropped into battle and has to pick an opponent. Just the majority of women feel safer with a bear in her presence if she's alone in the woods vs a strange man, and I think that's legit. Odds are against her if the bear attacks, but odds are Way in her favor that the bear won't attack at all.
So malicious intent is implied with the guy, but not the bear? Well fuck, Id choose the bear too then. But that feels like asking "would you rather get shot at with a loaded handgun, or an empty shotgun?" Empty shotgun please!
Fuck that, I'd choose the bear. A bear is totally predictable in behaviour. Who the fuck knows what a random strange guy is gonna do. What are you gonna do, wave your arms and look big if the guy wants something of you?
Not only that, but if you were a woman attacked by a bear, no one is going to accuse you of seducing the bear to warrant an attack, and no one is going to fuckin accuse you of actually liking being mauled.
I guess it bums me out and feels pretty damn regressive for so many people to think that its more likely that a random guy will be the worst, most evil person than a bear will just fucken maul them.
It bums ME out that most people have no experience or idea of what bears are, and that they aren't missiles that can't be deterred from killing.
Bears don't want your attention. Unless you're a sick calf, you're not an easy meal that will get them calories without risk of injury. Jeez, even garbage bears are manageable.
A bear will NOT stalk you online and go to your work or try to insert itself into your life or follow you down the street.
1 in 6 women have been raped fully or partially, personally I think the number is higher. 75% of the women I know have been raped, assaulted, or molested. Many, if not most, go unreported.
1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence.
Those are really fucking horrible statistics. Women live in a different world, and it is dangerous.
As someone else said, at least the bear won't blame the attack on the victim because she was dressed provocatively.
Nothing about the question says he does anything. It's "a bear" and "a man." Adding further attributes to the man just makes the entire thing look dishonest.
Also predictable is an apple falling from gravity. The bear is not predictable, as you can only make certain guesses as to how it will act, and you can never be fully certain you're even remotely right.
People were asked if they’d rather be alone in the woods with a strange man or a bear. Women overwhelmingly chose the bear. Men are generally confused as to why. Then men started whining.
I too have noticed this trend in the last few days but I have seen no single man whine about that...crazy how you can tell the gender of people from a comment (which I doubt exist, did they?)
If you haven't seen it, then you haven't been exposed to a broader response. I've seen many responses from insecure men who have been petulant, resentful, angry, essentially highlighting the reasons why women chose the bear.
The incels are furious because they think this puts them even further away from getting laid. e.g. a mass brainwashing attempt to turn women away from men. Not realizing it's just them.
too afraid to answer uh? You're right, better reply changing argument. I guess the way it works then must be that if a random no-one says that, it must be true, noted
I hate that most women choose the bear but they're totally right to do so. I just hate that thats the state of things. On the bright side i love petting my dog like that. Just grab his cheeks and go rub-rub-rub.
Why are they totally right? Are men that bad in the US? I know some are, but so many? I'm not a guy, and after some severe thought, I feel this has become a make men feel bad thing. Yes, there's still a world to win in equality, and some men behave badly, but let's stick to facts and don't make women extra scared. I don't think that helps. (All the daddies' princess stuff doesn't help either). All great dads are men, too. And those you'd happily meet in the woods.
What exactly is a "make men feel bad" thing? Why would that be a thing? Only some men behave badly just like only one chamber in russian roulette has a bulletin it. The odds may be low but statistically you're safer with the bear so why risk it? Also, saying things like "all the daddies' princess stuff" also doesn't help.
Ok. Most women feel more comfortable being alone in the woods with a bear than being alone in the woods with a man. That's the statistic. It has nothing to do with making men feel bad or whatever and everything to do with how women actually feel.
I'm a guy and my first reaction from a woman's perspective is the bear. In the States 1 in 6 women is raped fully or partially. Personally, I think it's higher because maybe women don't report. Out of all of the women I know, probably 75% have been attacked in their lifetimes.
This doesn't include domestic violence which is something like 1 in 4 women.
This isn't a make men feel bad thing, this is a reminder to those good men to hold the others accountable.
Everyone together needs to hold those men accountable. Your comment gets the message across way more clear than the comparison. That's what I mean. No, analogies, but clear and honest facts and expectations. At least, this should be added standardly to this question.
I'm glad I could offer a better explanation. Essentially, really insecure guys angry that women would risk being mauled rather than be alone with them (they're taking it very personally, and there are a lot of them. And in the process, proving why women choose the bear.
My wife and I had a really great conversation about this. If I was a woman, I'd choose the bear.
It's a striking spotlight on a very serious problem.
I get that it's a problem, but communication is key. It's like dealing with kids, dont just tell them what you don't want, tell what you do expect. And with all this bear stuff, there's only talk about what is wrong. Maybe you understand my point.
CarnivorousRabbit
You can stab a man. Stab a bear and you'll just die faster. Which I guess is preferable to being eaten alive.

Oh Merrobiba , you did it again

I also choose the bear. Plus, the dress was blue and gold.

1 in 6 women fully or partially raped in the States. Absolutely higher because of fear of reporting.
1 in 4 experiences domestic violence.
With a bear you get killed once. With men, you could be put through hell over and over and blamed for everything.
Malicious intent is not implied, but the statistically ugly truth is that men are more dangerous than bears.
ExecutiveProducerWolfDyck
Well, the bear probably won't rape and impregnate her, even worst-case scenario.

Nah, bears are *not* predictable. Guessable, maybe. More predictable than moose. But not predictable.
WilliamWeird
As compared to a strange dude in the forest that demands your attention? In contrast, bears are very predictable.
Guesses are predictions. You're thinking of premonitions.

They're bears. They aren't random number generators.
Geez, no one has any knowledge on what a bear is here.

TheS4ndm4n
Well, there you have it. Bears don't whine.
WilliamWeird
At least people would believe you if a bear attacked you. Ain't no bear-negging weirdos that will say I secretly enjoyed the bear mauling.
TheUnstoppableWampas
They'd prefer to get eaten alive? Noted. I'll remember that when camping.
req4adream99
Compared to the alternative? Im pretty sure the answer is yes.
TheUnstoppableWampas
What is the presumed alternative?
req4adream99
Rape. Beaten. Left for dead. All things men have done to women. But tbh I don’t think that your question is serious, and you are a troll.
TheUnstoppableWampas
You really assume that would happen with any random man? That's one of the most sexist things I've ever heard.

Not just whining but actively mocking women, threatening them and proving why women choose the bear.
