Yea I felt a little bad when Jordan passed and Sanderson took over. He turned it into an 80's action movie, so much smoother.

The first three or four books were actual stories that had a beginning, middle and end. Many later ones were a run-on sentence on steroids.

Check out the Reckoner's Trilogy as well. He also has a few decent standalone books. Elantris is excellent.

I'd also like to recommend "Age of Myth" and "Age of Swords" by Sullivan. I read these between "A Wise Man's Fear" and the Mistborn Trilogy.
