Tennessee marriage bill fails to advance pass general assembly.

The bill would set up the option for a different type of marriage certificate that would be available to opposite sex couples. I don't see the point. The main issue is it set no minimum age requirement, which could potentially set up underage children for abuse.

It's important to note that the bill isn't dead. It's been sent to summer study, and could re-emerge next year. This seems like a tactic to shift focus away from it, then try to slip it in next year when no one is paying attention.

Didn't they ammendment the bill to include a minimum age of 18?

They did, but the damage had been done. And in the end it is an anti gay marriage bill.
