While it's definitely error-prone and often annoying I'd argue that automatic captions are a much better use than a lot of other AI applications. It's inexpensive, it's not generative, and it provides accessibility to, say, deaf people, or people watching on mute, since you can't expect people to manually and properly caption all the content.
Also many more odd thing regular people wont get. ATC says husband is flying over but Pilot says “…tower” so flyovers are Area control part and tower is aerodrom control. These are 2 different frequencies. “13c” is nothing. Not the way you identify your self or others. Pilot didnt identify him (saying tower is reserved for first communication when you changed frequencies from approach handof, later you just say your callsign) self so ATC does not know who is requesting something.
