I really enjoy watching movies, but sometimes I feel like I'm missing out a lot on the more subtle aspects involved. So I've been trying to culture myself, and the main way to do so was through youtube video. I've assembled a list of 10 youtube channels that I've found most interesting and that focus on movies, how they're made, how they influence us and how we can enjoy them more!
Nerdwriter: Undoubtedly my favourite, Nerdwriter has videos not only on movies but on loads of other topics. His style is easily distinguishable, the videos are wonderfully assembled and I suspect he's been a major influence for a few of the content creators behind the channels below!
Personal faves: Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban: Why It's The Best, How David Fincher Hijacks Your Eyes
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJkMlOu7faDgqh4PfzbpLdg
Cinefix: CineFix is a channel with quite a few different types of videos - Things you didn't know about..., What's the difference? (between book and movie), and, my personal favourites: The Best... or The X Most ..., which cover topics ranging from movie props to cinematographers.
Personal faves: the "5 Brilliant Moments" series
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVtL1edhT8qqY-j2JIndMzg
Storytellers:
Similar to Nerdwriter, but focused on movies, he does wonderful analysis videos for movies and directors spanning from the early classics to recent blockbusters.
Personal faves: Dr. Strangelove: The Hilarity of Nuclear Annihilation
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbphDfwSJmxk1Ny_3Oicrng
Now You See It:
Really interesting takes on cinematographic elements with examples and ideas drawn from multiple movies - for example "The meaning of red in movies" or "A study of 'So Bad It's Good' movies"
Personal faves: Milk in movies: why do characters drink it?
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWTFGPpNQ0Ms6afXhaWDiRw
Channel Criswell: Similar to Storytellers and Nerdwriter, the videos are essentially cultural dissections of movies (or mostly, of particular elements or threads within them).
Personal faves: the two Taxi Driver analysis videos - that's how I discovered the channel and it made it stick in my mind

Lessons from the Screenplay:
A more specific channel, the author is a screenplay professional going through the screenplays of various movies, highlighting the way it impacts scenes and the movie as a whole. I promise it's more interesting than it sounds for the layman.
Personal faves: Gone Girl: don't underestimate the screenwriter

Every Frame a Painting:
Similar to Now You See It, this channel tends to focus more on the common elements or patterns, but usually within the block of work of a particular director, actor or artist (see fave).
Personal faves: Chuck Jones - the evolution of an artist -> Looney Tunes will never be the same after watching this
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjFqcJQXGZ6T6sxyFB-5i6A
Beyond the Frame: This one focuses a lot on Wes Anderson movies, but I think it's worth a browse. The video collages are amazing.
Personal faves: Tarantino's Cinematic Universe (mind = blown)

Filmmaker IQ
For the even more technical geeks out there, this one is a treat. It goes into great detail about everything technical on a cinema set.
Personal faves: How a director stages and blocks a scene
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSFAYalJ2Q7Tm_WmLgetmeg
CinemaTyler: If you're interested in the making of classics and in the (sometimes) weird process of creating a movie, you should check this one out (although be advised - there's a lot of Kubrick out there). You can also find some good analysis videos (a la Nerdwriter)
Personal faves: How Kubrick achieved the beautiful cinematography of Barry Lyndon

Yardbird42
Film Riot is also a fantastic channel
ILikeSpuds
What about CinemaSins! Lol

These are just the ones I'm following, but I'm more than happy for other people to post their faves :)
