Depends. I can play guitar but struggle with piano. Plus guitar music (tab) is far easier to get your head around compared to the ol' dots and squiggles

I'd say this for piano and the opposite for guitar...

I dunno. Once you get to advanced guitar playing, you're dealing with effects, alternate tunings and vibrato / bending techniques.

And, at the beginning, you learn a couple of cords and you can carry a recognizable tune at a campfire.

eheh, i learned folk guitar after 15 years of piano for this very reason. My experience was that the guitar was hard, painful until your fingers get used to the strings, and then "barrè chords" was an hard step to pass. But once behind it, i was costantly improving as long as i dedicated some time to pratice.
Piano was much more easy to start, no pain, no big obstacles, but improving it was extremly long, hard and frustratring.

In the end, i've see a lot of amateurs players blocked against the guitar first steps, and then becoming very good after that, but no piano players going far without much more dedication and lessons.
