Detail shots of the abandoned tanks as seen in http://imgur.com/a/Afnmg
They all were stripped down in the inside, as they are used as props in military training.
On the side of the first tank we found an iron cross.
As well as a logo, which looks a bit like the Afrika Korps, but without the swastika.
Going to the details on the 2nd, overgrown tank.
This was a serial number on the outside.
We also found a big iron cross on the armor.
As well as this number.
Last but not least pictures of the 3rd tank (did sadly take not much detail shots of the 4th).
Nuthatch birds had made a nest inside of this tank's gun barrel.
I also made a blog post with more info about the nature around this place:
http://www.tinyworlds.org/blog/nature-and-lost-tanks
Figured most people would be more interested in the old tanks :)
And here is how the nest looked close-up. Seems like they stuffed it with clay/mud. Inside we could hear the young nuthatch calling for food :)

The "iron crosses" are the bundeswehr emblems

Looks like that barrel was a little rough cut

The next war will be waged in in cyberspace. Tanks, aircraft carriers, SAMs, all obsolete.

Ummmm, wut

Sounds like a good movie anyway. I think the war in cyberspace never stops. However, there aren't the same dynamics that drive physical war.

Wonder how many people those things killed?
CurtainDoggo
Probably zero. Bundeswehr's m47 never saw combat afaic.
tinyruin
Hopefully none! They are from the Cold War era.

Weird how a Russian and American tank both have Iron Crosses on them . . . .
dren9999
The germans liked to capture enemy tanks and use them against them
tinyruin
Maybe. But this tank models seem to be post-2nd World War and are in the former part of Germany that was occupied by America after the war.

considering it's a Tiger I, I probably wouldn't want it either
Sklumlord
Probably broke down before you could get it home..
