Y'all gonna learn stuff.
This post includes science and religion in correlation. If you don't wanna learn, just move on.
1929
Edwin Hubble discovered that the Universe is ever expanding thanks to the development of his telescope.
The Bible
From what I've seen as a lurker, Imgurians don't take too fondly to the Bible. Some say it promotes bigotry and it's "Outdated".
Isaiah 40:22
"He STRECHES out the heavens like thin cloth and SPREADS them out like a tent to live in."
This was written by prophet Isaiah. 2,000+ years ago. Science only just discovered this in 1929. It cannot be that the Bible is outdated and irrelevant.
AssimilateMe
I take the bible as a tool to assist introspection. If you want to find personal meaning in it or draw associations, you can. Like any book.

As a Christian, I always thought religion and science weren't mutually exclusive.

Interesting to say the least. But I think the only "stretch" is the assumed correlation between the two.

it sure sounds like that verse is saying that there is a wall around around us with stars on it, and we're just inside the tent.

"Tent" is the easiest way to describe it. The Hebrews had no other word to describe it.
PorkinsWantsAllTheBacons
meaning the stars were not acknowledged as giant balls of gas with planets around them, but instead just points of light and nothing more.
