Explained this movie to my dad who encouraged me to find the 1950s(?) Version for us to watch. I love b&w movies and the original is a solid sci-fi for it's time.
This version is a perfect showcase of ooey gooey practical effects that's just *chef kiss*

I've seen the original too but the FX of this one was off the charts for the time. I was on a date when I first saw it and the very next day I dragged a couple buds to the theatre to watch it with me just to show how good it was.
