I'm not on a period, Greg. Can you make me cheesy chicken pasta. Just saying, Bro!

Sweet mother of cheesy goodness

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i saw the first pic and thought it was a frying pan and "oh that looks nice" then saw the pan had some DEPTH and was "oh fuck yeah"

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I make a bechamel sauce, keep adding more milk (I use oat milk so it's not overwhelmingly dairy) and cheddar and parmesan until it's pretty rich. Then I pan-fry a chicken breast, let it rest and then cut into chunks. Cut bits of bacon into the same pan and fry. Add mushrooms. Put the rested chicken back in the pan and dump the cheese sauce on it.

Lost me at "jars of alfredo sauce"

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

If I had access to jars of Alfredo sauce, I'd still be with it. But a lot of American recipes are full of mixes and jars and stuff, that even if they're available (which they mostly aren't), they're quite expensive.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel you. I live on Spain and theres nothing American here...but I have never had a good alfredo sauce from a jar.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

NGL, I laughed, after all those ingredients, that someone would put in another 1/4t salt.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

now remember, after your two fucking pounds of preservative-laced mass manufactured alfredo, you gotta add that QUARTER TEASPOON of salt.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Te delicate pallette might miss it

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Hnnng all that cheese. Hopefully it'll help prevent the Period Shits (The 2nd worst part of ANY period.)

Does this looks like something you should eat if your having brutal diarrhea? Bitch you need saltine crackers and a Gatorade. You eat this, all 8000 feet of you’re intestines gonna end up in da bowl.

The one line about his wife’s period was a brave choice for a recipe introduction but it’s better than the life story.

3 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 4

It was her idea.

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

That was definitely more aimed at poking fun at the recipes with the 500 page novel before them than y’all! No offense intended if it came off that way.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

If all recipe anecdotes started and ended with "I'm on my fucking period give me a fucking break just make this" the world would be better

3 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

I'm... I'm on my period

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My wife gets period dementors. Chocolate keeps them at bay.

Hey @OP, I'm uhhh... on my period too.

I saved the recipe to try at a future date

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I forgot to mention in the recipe, once you put in the Alfredo sauce and spinach, turn the heat down to low. Don't wanna burn the sauce. Also you guys' backstory is super cute.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s for the heads up!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Awww - as someone who gets periods, thank you for cooking for your wife while she had hers. +1 Curious, too: anyone besides me not like Alfredo sauce? Total dealbreaker.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I like it in very small amounts, so i can see why some may hate it all together. For me it really depends on how "rich" it is, and if they've added gross extras like sugar. A good alfredo should be creamy but viscous - easily able to coat the pasta without adhering to it like a thick paste glue. It should have a complex flavor with hints of butter, garlic, and a tang of cheese, but not overpowering to the point you lose the subtle herbal flavors. It should NEVER be sweet!!!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly, the way you describe it - light, herby, flavorful, garlicky and a little cheesy, containing no sugars or fillers - would be perfect. 😂 Maybe I've just always had shitty Alfredo sauce!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hah that's fair! Yeah a lot of the Alfredo sauces you get in restaurants here or even worse, jarred, have waaay too much sugar and fillers. The best i've ever had was made not by an italian, but by a Swedish Mom. She flavored it with bay leafs, basil, the tiniest amount of oregano, and a drop of winter truffle oil. I believe she also added part of a chicken stock cube and fresh parmesan. It was so herbal and aromatic that it brought me to a whole new tier of alfredo. Drooling thinking about it..

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well I cook for her all the time, not just during that time of the month.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

OP's wife here: the pasta was AMAZING. Can't wait for leftovers!

3 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 1

Real question: how did you handle that much dairy on your period?! I would commit war crimes after a bowl of that. Not saying that would stop me, though.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can confirm, that is @op wife

His grandmother used to make this when she was on her period. When maw maw had a sloppy giner, she'd whip up a mess of moonsickness pasta. With chicken!

"sloppy giner" jesus fucking christ, lol

nono, the rules clearly state it's only when his WIFE is on her period. That being said, they also don't specify who the cheesy pasta is FOR

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congrats! You get nothing

As it happens, all genders experience hormone cycles! You may just not be able to observe definite symptoms. Sometimes strength/sensitivity runs in the family. That's how I came to discover during transition precisely what my family's period symptoms feel like. The answer: Very bad. XD

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've heard of that before too but never looked much into it

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait I've heard of that. Male "menses." But not really cuz ya know... not the same. Got any reading material?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Here's a short article that simply explains the role of a number of hormones in men and how they cycle. They have a good number of citations at the bottom leading to studies whose material they use! https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/the-health-hub/conditions/mens-health/men-master-your-hormones/

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

When it comes to trans women experiencing period symptoms, there's unfortunately not a lot of scientific study. We're a small demographic, and because hormones are complicated, not all of us will experience them either. I recall having something on hand earlier in my transition when I was still bickering with terfs online regarding this, but I seem to have lost it. The most I can personally offer is my symptoms line up w/ my cisgender family members and typically occur monthly.
