The NYT and probably most other major news organizations have published different excerpts, all of which are present in this letter. This journalist just says he was the only one to publish the full thing. It's probably more likely than him fabricating a fake letter by piecing together all the different lines and publishing a fraud.

I will admit I am no manifesto expert but just looking at the definition in the dictionary it seems "a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer" would pretty much line up with this. Or just call it a note, it doesnt seem like it matters.

Just the frame, it's the only part that is legally required to have a serial number thus it's the only part that requires a background check and paper trail to purchase. The frame rails on most polymer pistols are metal and if a 3d print isn't done well the weapon will fail to cycle like we saw happening on the surveillance footage. Other than the frame and possibly the suppressor the weapon appears to be an off the shelf glock. (Image source CNN article)

Yeah, it's a pretty common thing afaik. People like building them but at the end of the day you just end up with a sub par firearm. The only logical reasons to do so is if you either have a record preventing you from purchasing a firearm or if the intent is to use it in a crime and dispose of it. Ironically the Biden administration wanted to start cracking down on them in 2022 or 23 but it was overturned in a lower court this year and I believe is awaiting a ruling from the supreme court.

They call them "ghost" guns because there's no serial number to track a buyer; they can just appear from nowhere. Of course, this isn't a new thing, "zip" guns have been around for a century or more.
A gun isn't conceptually difficult, especially single shot: a tube to direct the bullet, a breach of some sort to hold the shell, and a pin to strike the primer.

Have they finally pushed us too far? Probably not. This will probably blow over and nothing will happen.
But this dude stood up and took action. Appropriate action. The oligarchs could have stepped back a tiny amount and kept almost all of their money, but they haven't, and they deserve nothing less than this.

I'm skeptical about this being the manifesto. For one thing, this is not a manifesto of any kind. It's a letter, at best. The timing is weird too, and the reporter who claims to have gotten this note is a Young Turk (so I don't know where he would have gotten it from that say, someone with a Pulitzer wouldn't have also gotten it). The reporter that broke this as "the manifesto" is also known for pranking and for errant reporting, either of which could be at work here. I'm skeptical.

It is a letter. Its was the handwritten note he had on him. "Manifesto" is just what some journalists are describing it as, which could describe it. You can call it an admission of cause or claim of responsibility or whatever you would like. The publisher says everyone has it, and they have all shared parts (which they have), but that he is the only one to share it in its entirety. The exerpts from NYT and others seem to match up.
