Aphantasia - the inability to form pictures or imagery in ones mind's eye.

So I was thinking about what makes a person a conscious entity, and I was toying with the idea that consciousness is linked to self recognition and ego, and perhaps the inner monologue that people have and the ability for form imagery in ones mind.

After reading about this on the internet (must be true) I found that there are people out there in the world that lack a mind's eye, suffice to say, they cannot imagine a red balloon or blue ball. They cannot imagine or dream in images.

Then I found this guy. His name is Blake Ross. If you don't know him and you use firefox then you'll be happy to learn this dude co-founded mozilla. He also lacks a mind's eye. So this got me thinking even more. If some people lack a mind's eye but are super successful then my initial thought about ego and consciousness being linked to this might not actually be true. Along the way I also found people through google searches that also lack an inner-monologue. i.e. they don't think in words, just in images. Some people I found cannot do either and simply think out loud. Yet these people aren't idiots, they don't lack consciousness...

So this got me thinking.... how many imgurians have either of these conditions (or both!)??? I found a study to indicate the incidence of aphantasia was upto 2% of the population!!! Imagine that (or don't if you can't!).

So I'd love to see someone get to FP by telling the rest of us what life is like to suffer from either of these conditions and explain to us how they cope or understand the world. I know you are out there!!!
