Semi-stolen idea from another smith. The border of the rack is made from used farrier rasps. Think finger nail files for horses.
Fern fronds are "forge welded" at the ends.
You get to cheat on these pieces by using modern tack welds on the back to assemble. Then, you can rivet as normal.
