Mika Hakkinen Vs. Michael Schumacher, Belgian GP 2000
Fernando Alonso Vs. Michael Schumacher, Japanese GP 2005
Kimi Raikkonen Vs. Giancarlo Fisichella, Japanese GP 2005
Mark Webber Vs. Fernando Alonso, Belgian GP 2011
There are so many more overtakes that are equally as good, but it's impossible to find good quality videos on the internet.

Shelest
At some point of my life I named my cat after Mikka Hakkinen.
LeftHandPanda
The full name?
Shelest
Yes. She, being a cat, never answered her name though.
flightstosaturn
I feel sometimes like this when I pass other slow cars on the freeway.
BenWaLikeANicknameNotLiketheBalls
overtakes, not outtakes, gotcha. That took me long than it should have
LeftHandPanda
You should youtube Kimi Raikkonen Shit. That's as close to an F1 outtake as you can get!
biggiej
Cannot believe Villenuve and Arnoux are not in the list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0-QazICqeA Greatest battle ever.

Each racing series has their advantages and moments. I enjoy it all equally

When i was a kid, i always think "what's so fun about this?" Now I'm like "holy shit this shit takes a lot of skills and balls!"
daelith
Then you get a chance to get in 800+ hp and the fun light clicks on.
frankbarista
Huh
xRocketman52x
Aw. It looks so peaceful, like they're *not* going lethal speeds

weeber doing that at eau ruge (sp?) wow.

It didn't involve Mark successfully getting off the line, so of course it's possible! hehehehe

Keep fighting Kaiser Schumi.
LeftHandPanda
Part of me wants to see how he is now and another part wants to remember him as he was.
azazyel
I like that these better than just driving in a circle.
SweetBabyJesusBaconFlavoredNutellaMountainDewApplePieMooQuack
It just driving in a circle. You have a 1 inch on all sides of you, at 200mph, and little move and the whole field it taken out.
SweetBabyJesusBaconFlavoredNutellaMountainDewApplePieMooQuack
or LA rush hour traffic. At 200mph, everyone is tail gating each other incuding you.

I saw the Häkkingen vs. Schuhmacher one live. It was the bomb. Since that moment I'm in love with F1

Even if you only ever watch NASCAR, you can easily appreciate those overtakes, I'm sure.

FlatulentFerret
This is my favourite as well, if you hadn't posted it I would have. Epic racing. Same clip with epic music https://youtu.be/I-JBDGWZsMY
MarkHughes
That's the one I was looking for, thanks :)
LeftHandPanda
Jesus, they were hitting each other and everything! Imagine that now? They'd be disqualified for dangerous driving
MarkHughes
The modern cars wouldn't stand that kind of treatment I suspect.
bluedragon878
Jesus that was nail biting
MarkHughes
It sure was, notice it was for second place and the winner gets the briefest of mentions :)
bluedragon878
Pretty much Canada's only claim to fame in the racing world are the Villneuves
callmeLuke
More please! MotoGP would be good too
AlexImguram
Just gonna leave this here: https://vimeo.com/32756097 Two of MotoGP's greatest overtakes within three laps. Stunning race.
xzyragon
i was gonna post that
dmf81
Damn that was a great couple of laps
ChanceCoats123
Great racing! That was really a nail biter!

Wow thank you sir! This is an amazing race! In return I only have this link to motoGP replays to give you: http://gpmoto.tumblr.com/
potatoooooooos
Can someone who knows about this explain how they pass. Why would the guy in front bot just go faster? (I realize that question sounds dumb)
equinoxiq
It's because they are already going as fast as they can or think they can.
UnfortunatelyTheHighKingofSkyrim
A lot of it has to do with how late you brake to go into a corner and how fast you accelerate coming out.
giveittomestraightlikeapearcidermadefrom100percentpears
I feel that some of these overtakes came from the driver behind being in the slipstream giving a small boost of speed. Also late breaking.
giveittomestraightlikeapearcidermadefrom100percentpears
Now its a little bit boring with DRS, i don't mind KERS, or now ERS, or TERS (same thing, energy recovery)
weasel1902
Slipstream, tires, car setup, also, carrying more speed out of the previous corner
TheGreatBetrayal
I would like to know too, please. How exactly does one speed up and get in front?
Jiddybit
as an australian I have to say YEAH MARK WEBBER YOU FUCKING HERO!
LeftHandPanda
Webber is such a hero. I really miss him, but I'm delighted he's doing well in sports cars.
skwid23
And Ricciardo is pretty damn good, so he'll do a good job picking up the slack. (one of my favorite overtakes was him on HAM, Hungary '14)
TopHattedTeaMan
"BUUUUUUUUU-PHVVVVEEEEEEEWwwwᴡᴡᴡ" is the sound you would hear.
LeftHandPanda
I miss the old sound so much :(

BBBV - *cies*
whyiseverythingupsidedown
Those V10s screamed like banshees. I go on YouTube every now and then and watch dyno videos of them...such a beautiful sound.
shimmernshine
Am I the only one that watches hoping for zero contact? The words 'yellow flag' and 'red flag' make me feel ill.
autopia
No contact is how racing was intended to be. NASCAR made contact a lot of people's only reason to watch.
WhyIsThisAGif
I'll take constant clean, no contact passing over a wreck any day. So exciting to watch.
potshot
No contact is what a driver strives for, but the best overtakes are ones where you are certain there will be contact yet there isn't.
WhimsicalCalamari
I feel like those who watch motorsports for contact tend to congregate more around NASCAR.
AlexImguram
And the BTCC. But contact or not, the BTCC has produced some of the most exciting racing of all time.
WhimsicalCalamari
I've never heard of BTCC but a quick look makes me think it would be fun to watch.
AlexImguram
It's an oldie, but no six minutes of action sums up the BTCC more perfectly than this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCij9mYIokA
WhimsicalCalamari
those cars look kind of like what us stock cars should be
TheKRNL
I was sat 5 yards from the camera in the last at Spa. The entire stand was in shock - It's inconceivable to pass at Eau Rouge.
Delightfoot
It is so beautiful I can't stop watching it
TherinGreydude
Stefan Bellof died in almost the exact same situtation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgtZe-iQH1U
MosbiusArchitect
Do you understand how amazing I find it that a top comment has both "Spa" and "Eau Rouge" in it?
TheKRNL
I fully understand. Went away, came back at 2am my time and there appears to be F1 love. Brilliant.
MosbiusArchitect
one of my favorite youtube clips is watching a shelby daytona coupe blast down the front straight through eau rouge. spa is so beautiful.
taekwondoin
Alonso got him back in the exact same place the next year right? Brilliant driving from both of them.
kers1equipped1prius
Maybe in 2013, in the 2012 race Alonso gotten taken out in that crazy first corner crash.
ILoveMyBowelsButSometimesWhy
necessity
Raikkonen on Schumi in '13 was amazing
accujimmy
TY! That's the pass that I remember, although this Webber one is good too
Vedar
That's the corner I always crash at trying to overtake in assetto corsa.
LeftHandPanda
Nice! I've always wanted to go to the Belgian GP, but the length of the track and bad weather put me off!
zotten
As a Belgian... I don't blame you.
Ognipode
The Total 24 Hours of Spa is today! Streaming live on YouTube too, starts in around 3 hours from now. Channel name is GTWorld. My fav race!
TheKRNL
It's really good. I'm going again in a few weeks. Weather can be bad but no one really cares.
LeftHandPanda
I've been to a few of the European races. Belgium or England will be next I think.

UnlikelyMotivation
Sorry, which one are we talking about?
Raven2785
The last one, Eau Rouge is that corner, it's a very difficult corner to take due to the elevation change so most drivers never overtake here
Eulenspieler
Is it bad that I saw like half a second of that gif and immediately knew which circuit it was?
LeftHandPanda
No,its good!
whyiseverythingupsidedown
Moves like that take balls the size of planets and a hell of a lot of trust in the guy you're trying to pass. Webber and Alonso had that.
terrorista31
yeah! in the video it looks like Fernando moves away so he don't crash with Mark, awesome
whyiseverythingupsidedown
It looks like he makes a move to test Mark, and upon realizing Mark had more pace and wasn't going to yield Alonso adjusted his line.
NinjaGrizzlyBear
Trust that it would be mutually beneficial for the driver you're passing not to fuck with you or that the other driver won't freak out?
whyiseverythingupsidedown
Trust that the other driver won't freak out because, unfortunately, not all drivers in F1 possess that kind of level head.
JohnnyricoMC
And mutual trust. Alonso and Webber are good friends and they were some of the most experienced drivers on the grid.
whyiseverythingupsidedown
Exactly, I hope Alonso gets a chance to Join Mark at Porsche for Le Mans one day. Would make for one hell of a team.
TheKRNL
You are so right. The TV doesn't do the speed, directional change and elevation change justice. It was amazing.
hugglesthemerciless
Having done spa countless times in my f1 car on forza 5 I was clenching so hard during that.
whyiseverythingupsidedown
You definitely couldn't pull that kind of move on Maldonado.
TheKRNL
Don't even get me started on the Lotus boys...
whyiseverythingupsidedown
Grosjean is actually a pretty handy pilot when he has his head on straight,

TheKRNL

TheChosenAsiangirl
Damn thats awesome!!
