Quick reminder that the FDA was underfunded before Trump came into office, and further deregulation efforts taken over his first administration are becoming more painfully noticeable now (particularly the SUNSET rule that was put in during the last couple of weeks of the admin). This will only get worse.

You can cook out e. coli.
The biggest risk is cross contamination. You CANNOT touch the tainted meat, not wash your hands, then make a salad.
The meat will be the source of the e. coli, but won't make you sick because it was cooked properly, the salad will make you sick because it was contaminated.
