If he gets back into office I'm DEFINITELY expatriating. Idgaf where I find myself I cannot deal with another 4 years of *insert terrible adjective of choice* Trump.

Demanding that BIDEN save his ass... ... ...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So... Does he always talk about himself in the third person?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So he’s saying we should bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember when he said when he's President again... if he's behind in the polls, he's arrest the opposition. Yeah... he plans on serving several more terms, not just the 2 that's limited to.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You see; anytime he uses the word: "illegal" he means it doesn't fit with his adjenda or his lack of morals because he knows he's in deep shot and he knows it IS perfectly Legal. Just not for him.

I'm a bleeding heart liberal and usually watch MSNBC for news, but even I can only take so much of it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The reference to self in the 3rd person is just the shit icing on the massive fucked-up turd cake.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Didn't Telemundo just cancel all of Biden's ads to support Trump despite it actually being over the air and not cable?

His reëlection would be the death knell for our democracy, nay, even for our country. I am terrified that it might actually come to pass.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The airwaves are free. You can just grab em in space. I have like 6mHz of bandwidth right now

There have always been attacks on the press, especially from the right wing, but they really picked up politically-organized steam during the Nixon administration. VP Spiro Agnew was railing against the "nattering nabobs of negativity" for the coverage of Nixon's Viet Nam war expansions into Laos and Cambodia. Today's fascists have now had close to 60 years and decades of their own media propaganda channels (cable and mostly-AM radio) to perfect their misinformation campaigns.

Temper tantrum Donnie is still crying like the bitch he is.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean there are so many things wrong with that one statement I wouldn't even know where to begin.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd love to point out to him denying he lost the election IS election interference every time he says it but I learned long ago you can't fix stupid.

Roberts net worth is said to be $1.7B. Trump is jealous.

I like the part where he alienates yet another sizeable and influential business entity. Keep up the good work

people needs to be conscious of one thing: conservative is a "nice" word that they claim represent tradition, family and fiscal responsibility. When you look at the actions, conservative really represents racism, bigotry, misogyny and corruption to amass wealth. If a politician claim to be conservative, he is all that. if a pleb tells you he is conservative because of fiscal responsibility, it just means he is racist and a morons who will vote for whomever wants to fleece him. All of them, that

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

includes the magats, that are just hardcore versions of the classical conservatives, but also your uncle bobby, who decided to go "independent" because of the magats. He is more self conscious and care about his image, but will still vote for the racists, misogynistic bigots traitors all the same. They never were respectable, the veneer is just cracked.

When did it become anti-anything to hold opposing views?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MSNBC only travels through air on the way from satellite to rooftop dish.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Well, let's be fair. There's probably a microwave uplink from the studio to the satellite ground station, and the satellite uplink...lol

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I'm guessing the satellite companies pay for the use of those radio bands.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Actually, it'll be open season on EVERYONE except the boot-licking scum that will stab each other to get his attention. The ignorant MAGA crowd will be sucked dry of their $, then thrown under the bus whenever it's convenient

"much more to come, watch!"... he sounds like the my pillow guy

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

its literally the FIRST amendment. i understand if you get bored and decide to stop reading after like the 5th or 6th .... (sarcasm) ... but its literally the FIRST one.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They glaze over the first and just say that "free speech" means that private platforms should allow them to post inflammatory crap about marginalized people and go right ot the 2nd and stop there. I guarantee that less than 5% of MAGA can even name the 3rd ammendment.

But Fox doesn’t count, of course.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's always projection with the GOP and Trump. Every accusation is a literal confession of what they're doing/trying to do.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The GQP is full-on attacking the press now. Small town newspapers are being illegally searched, records seized for minor investigations. Large newsmedia is being attacked and reporters threatened. Bring back the fairness doctrine, that way we can get NEWS, not spin and opinions.

2 years ago | Likes 266 Dislikes 0

Not that I don't believe you, but can you share sources of the illegal searches and records grabbing for investigations?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let's have a reasoned debate with them, I'm sure we can get them to see sense

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Fairness Doctrine only applied to over the air broadcasts, not cable. We need something more suited to the current media reality. Unfortunately, the right would use it to say anybody broadcasting objective truths would have to present their lies right alongside. Not an easy needle to thread.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The vast majority of modern journalist have no clue what fairness is. Reporting the misinformation, disinformation, and outright lies of one (or both) political parties isn't being fair and certainly doesn't make you a reporter, just a mouthpiece. Investigating the statements, pointing out proven lies to their source, then reporting the facts about said statements, regardless of where they came from, is being fair.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Absolutely!

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And get rid of the fucking 24 hour news cycle! All it encourages is journalists making up things to talk about and filling time between actual news stories with useless opinion pieces and sensationalized content to drive viewership. Go back to the evening news model that parses important news into easily delivered and absorbed fact based reporting that leaves room for people to make up their own damn minds about the topic being delivered. "Breaking News" would actually have meaning again.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Now"? Dude, the first time someone said "fake news" they were attacking the press. They've been doing this for YEARS.

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Exactly! Trump knew that the first thing he had to do was discredit news media with the whole “fake news” rhetoric. And it unfortunately worked perfectly!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well before that. Ask Dan Rather.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's a scary MF.

2 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 1

It's just "mf". MF should be reserved for real MF's.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the same way AI is scary. People with money and power will use it as a patsy for their worst crimes.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

How dumb are 40% of voters if they can't see how dumb one game show host is?

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

He validates their hate, fear and ignorance. They will follow him off any cliff.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're not dumb - I mean, a lot of them are, but they don't like him because they don't understand what he is. They like him because they DO understand what he is. That's the scary part.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

He allows them to be bigots and they'll follow him off a cliff because of it. They don't care about anything else.

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Not “allows.” He tells them it’s admirable and right.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trump voters are the same people as pro wrestling fans. They don't care about fairness or rules as long as they are winning. When they're losing everything is unfair to them.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

So...the first guy is pointing out that conservatives don't like free anything (airwaves in this case) and the second guy is pointing out that cable news networks are not broadcast over airwaves at all?

2 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 6

Facts mean nothing to people too stupid to understand them. Even if the stupidity is deliberate.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually, OTA Broadcasters do need to pay the FCC (a US government agency) a yearly License for their transmission frequency. Cable does not. Since the signal is contained within a distribution network. So: "airwaves" are not free in this case.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There are administrative fees for a license but they are like $250/yr for public property worth billions. What's the right word when something is not technically free, but is extremely low cost for value? If I buy a five million dollar house from my friend for $1 I feel like I would still say he gave me a free house, though technically inaccurate.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Frankly, I'm not sure what the "if you call yourself conservative" point was supposed to be. I don't know what that person thinks "conservative" means. But as for the reply, yes, I believe that it not using broadcast spectra was the point.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I can't tell if they're going with the "free speech" angle, or the anti-govt "handout" angle by denouncing the use of government controlled airwaves.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Generally, "conservatives" are against government involvement, which this is actually advocating for.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Denying the freedom of press violates the first amendment which Trump is advocating.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

That's not something conservatives are typically concerned about moreso than others.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

he's stressing that old school conservatives were all about protecting the constitution and how now they want to wipe their asses with it

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hmm. That may be it. Thank you.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What? Are you being purposefully idiotic? Trump is claiming MSNBC is a free service funded by the government when it is a cable news channel run by a private company. The response is that cable news is a paid-for service so it obviously isn’t free.

2 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 26

That's why Da3n is confused. your explanation didn't explain trump's mention of "FREE government approved airwaves". I'm guessing you're not familiar with how broadcast television works.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Guess they won’t be getting the nuclear codes then.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"free, government approved airwaves" refers to the licensing of frequency spectrum for over the air broadcast. I think Trump is too stupid to understand that cable and broadcast are two different things. ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, etc don't have to pay for spectrum, but that's a far cry from being "funded by the government."

2 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

I mean PBS is literally funded by the government and the public, it's the Public Broadcasting Service. The rest of them are privately owned though.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I waffled over including it but it's been so long since I used an antenna, I couldn't think of other nationwide examples at the time. PBS gets 15% of its funding from the federal government and only applies here as an example of a broadcasting service. Good point.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Fox. WB.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are *you* being purposefully idiotic? That's not what he claimed at all.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Right? Unnecessarily unkind.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I wasn't sure how to get that part across, but you have succinctly phrased it.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I’ve had Lots of practice, because internet. But thanks for sharing the sentiment. It’s always nice to run across/brush up against other chill people. Maybe it’s what makes being on said internet still worth it.
