Middle aged cis hetero male here, so you can pretty much assume I'm utterly ignorant about what it means to be a trans person or being a part of that community.
I'm of the opinion that everyone should be allowed to live their truth as long as they're not hurting anyone, and given the current political climate it seems vital that we stand up for the LGBTQ+ community, and especially trans women.
So, when I saw the media focus that these "Protect The Dolls" t-shirts got, I thought I might get one and start wearing it to show support, but I figured I should try to read up on it first.
Now, based on what I could find on Reddit, there are those who like the shirts, and there are those who don't, which is to be expected I suppose. So my question is this:
How can I best show my support and that I am an ally in a way that is respectful and compassionate with regards to how trans people want to be represented?

“Live their truth” or not… people should just be allowed to live their own damn life the way they want, as long as they are not hurting anyone else!

I think that the write ups about Pedro Pascal were because of the notoriety he lent to the conversation in favor of being nice to trans people.
I'd say, look into the timeline of the slogan, the group that made it and who is selling the shirt etc etc yada yada yada. Otherwise, just be nice to people I guess.

Just wear it, bud. if someone has a problem with it or you wearing it, all you can do is tell them your intentions. I have a PtD's shirt, and about a dozen various pride shirts. Wear them unapologetically. because I live in a somewhat progressive city there is a good population of LGBTQIA+ individuals, but that's relative. they're still tiny in number and need defending, especially the Trans community being under the spotlight.

Rock the shirt, and get some properly patterned bracelets as well, or a rainbow pride tie. Advertise that you are a safe person, and be a dick to the bigots in town.

Someone will always be a hater. If you worry about them, you change who you are for people you don’t even know or care about. Be you. Wear what you want.

I agree on principle. The reason I asked is that since this is their truth, I wish to respect how they want to be perceived. But, yeah, agreed.
