She was a mother to me when I had no mother.

took 3.5 months for me to find out. She was a good woman and cared a ton about me when my own biological mother didn't. I made a post a while back about how terrible my birth mom is.

We'll call mom #2 "M". M was not in the best of shape. In and out of the hospital on occasion for breathing problems, but she didnt do much to help herself as she continued to smoke. I usually knock on her patio door but she hadn't responded to texts or knocks in some time.

It's not weird to be honest. She and I were both of the type of people who can go away for a month or two and come back like nothing changed. This time around though, because of her health, I finally decided to ask her neighbor.

Turns out she started losing it (M that is) and deleting phone numbers and throwing fits and not turning her oxygen on. She was suffering.

In her phone she only had 3 numbers left. 2 immediate family members...and my number. To think I had a positive impact on her. So much so that she never talked bad about me or deleted my number while she was going through her issues. Her neighbor was also kind enough to give me the necklace she always wore. The reason I wasn't notified was because most of the people had no idea how to get ahold of me and those that had her phone didnt know who I was. I don't blame them but it's still sad news and I feel that my world is now lessened with M's departure.

Just still feeling sad and wanted to vent a bit. Imgur feels like a good outlet for that sometimes I think.

TL;DR
Hold your loved ones close and tell them you love them. We never know when someone's day will be their last.

It's really weird when someone you felt so close to dies and no one thinks to tell you. Or is able to. Kinda like a double slap in the face

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. Frankly I'm just glad she's not in pain anymore. Just wish I knew sooner :/
