Likely a swallowtail caterpillar, the monarch caterpillars typically have little "antennae" like protrusions on the front/back, and usually only eat milkweed.

They do often get confused, however. Source: I used to be absolutely OBSESSED with butterflies as a kid, and even helped tag them! (I'm actually planning my 2nd tattoo to involve a Monarch Butterfly in some way, but that's still a ways off)

I would've guessed Monarch but eating dill is making me hesitate. Here, I'm hoping giving the wrong answer someone will have the urge to correct me for you.

Not monarch. A black swallowtail caterpillar, most likely (they look similar, but monarch caterpillars typically have antennae-like protrusions, and almost exclusively eat milkweed)

Did the tagging thing in middle school science with monarchs. Remember them only eating milkweed just wasn't sure if it was exclusive. Thanks for the info

All good, they're actually meant to (confusingly) look like monarch caterpillars! Since milkweed is poisonous, most predators tend to avoid monarchs, so other caterpillars looking similar is likely the same evolutionary advantage that the Scarlet King Snake developed (to appear like it's the very venomous Coral Snake)

Usually we just get a ton of cabbage worms that turn into these white moths. Definitely gonna let these guys finish doing their thing. Will he awesome to see the whole process. Honestly they didn't even eat that much of my Dill.
