She originally planned telling me and my wife when we visited for our NYE party, but my wife had a headache and I had a toothache so we left after the fireworks.
So she contacted me yesterday, socially inept as ever, with a message in the likes of "we need to talk, can I come over tonight?" I told her she could come over on any day she wanted, but since I had to work until 8 pm, that was the ealiest slot for that day.
My wife had no idea what was going on and freaked out what the hell could have happened.
I talked to common close friend working on the same team as me (we had let shift together) and he also had no idea what it could be.
She came around at 7:45, my wife already ordered sushi, knowing we all 3 love sushi and my colleague made me finish early.
We sat down to eat and saying she was nervous as hell would be the understatement of the year. She began telling us she was in therapy (we knew that for nearly a decade) told us that she had some new year's resolutions. But she did not know how to tell us. I told her to just get to the point, quick and painless, like ripping off a bandaid.
The she told us she is trans.
It took me around 2 seconds to process why she even was nervous telling us.
I hugged her, telling her that I admire her strength fir telling us and that it does not change a thing (at least between us, technically it changes a lot of things).
My wife and her immediatey started talking about make up and stuff I could tell how relieved she was that we took it so well.
Only her mother and two other close friends (they stayed over night on NYE) already know, and I kind of take pride in the fact that I was so early in the list.
Log story short: be there fo your trans friends. They need you!
Also: sorry if this is too long or my english isn't that good (I'm not a native speaker).
Cat tax. Our little furball napping.
