I can't drive 55.

Move to Montana or Utah or Idaho. Lots of 80mph out there

Really depends on the roads, some stretches of highway I'd say 90 is the fastest I'd ever go, but most is 80

Speed limits were originally introduced because of the oil crisis in the 70s.

No. Cars are safer people are worse. Just browsing any thread on this site about tailgating is enough proof of that. Americans are unfit.

Imgur, I want you to know, we just had a sane but contentious political discussion and no one mentioned Trump, Hitler, or Bernie. I'm proud.

Honestly, Americans have no idea how good they're interstate roads are. Here in Western Canada the max speed would be about 65 mph.

And our best roads are like the back road highways I've been on in the states.

Goddamnit Steve! No car is safe enough to save you from that bitch that's texting 3 cars over.

Be cool Steve, if they're driving slow in the slow lane, no harm no foul.

In Utah the highway in rural areas is 80mph

the problem is we build shit roads. designed to wear out, and be rebuilt. google how the autobahn was built, that was done right

recycled tires in the mix when paving apparently doubles life & avoids potholes/ freeze bumps. Construction CO's don't want that though.

Here in the midwest the soil is soft and clay like and would be relatively expensive to build it 'right'.

Cars are better, people are still the same. That's the actual problem. USA drivers are some of the world's worst.

LOL yourself. Not enough space to itemize the places I've been to and driven in. I will just leave it at that.
