It went down to single digits last night and I fell asleep too hard and let my wood stove go out. I do have a furnace but the radiator on the one side of my house does not function properly. I’ve had my pipes burst before and it was definitely colder last night than the first time it happened. I think I’m gonna leave the toilet just how it is till I get this radiator fixed.

Inner toilet flap leaks water ... that's a hell of a euphemism.

My toilet did that and ran all night. Extra $85 on THAT water bill.

My upstairs neighbors toilet always runs. Sure the float just need to be adjusted.

Growing up in Canada we had a single bulb preventing the outdoor well from freezing. It blew once and it took 2 weeks to thaw that pipe.

Get a heat tape on the pipes.

You can also get a wrap on pipe heater cable to keep it from freezing.

It is cheap and easy to replace a flapper. You can also just coat the edge of the hole it covers with Vaseline as a temporary fix.

In most cases, just clean it up. The ring seal gets gross with gunk from the water and doesn't seal decently enough from time to time.

But ..but the water bill

I’m drunk and this post sounds like some Victorian era bullshit.

Fix the flap, had our water bill triple because of one.

And it's a pretty easy fix too.

If you use toilet pucks, get parts that are chlorine safe.

Inner toilet flap is what i call my conscience!

Listen to your inner toilet flap, it is crying for a reason. Therapy helps.

I was just gonna zip tie a 4oz fishing weight to the top of the flap it just isn’t heavy enough to seal on its own.

Maybe they like ice and wish their pipes would have frozen?

Just had to replace my furnace last week. $4485 Canadian buckazoids. 2 days with no furnace at -18 c.

If my house froze because I didn’t throw wood in the stove, I’m moving. I’ll take my nat gas furnace in Canada over anything.

Got a new ceiling in the basement, builders shot a nail through a copper water pipe in between the ceiling and upstairs floor..
