Kevin Smith’s Dogma 25th Anniversary Screening in Minneapolis, MN

I am a huge Kevin Smith fan, and I’ve been to at least a dozen of his get-togethers over the years. Last night, I attended a screening of Dogma, which he can finally do stuff with, since another company bought it from Weinstein. He is doing a Q&A screening tour to 20 different cities. Dogma will be rereleased on 2000 screens this June!

He answered Dogma-related questions and told productions stories. He fancied over working with George Carlin and Alan Rickman, and told how intrigued Alan was with Jay Mewes! “That boy is a National treasure” he told Kevin.

I raised my hand, and got called on. I said I just wanted to say thank you - back in 2003, I had gone out to Red Bank, NJ to attend his Stash Bash 2 party. While out there, I received word from back home that my friend had been diagnosed with cancer. I had Kevin autograph a Jay & Silent Bob photo for him.

I went on to tell him that my friend loved it, and wanted to hang it up in his hospital room. But you can’t just randomly pound a nail into the hospital wall, so I said that was one other painting already hanging on the wall. I then told Kevin that, for a very brief time at the Mayo Clinic in 2003, instead of Jesus looking down on my friend, he was replaced by Jay & Silent Bob! Kevin absolutely adored that story.

He saw a bunch of View Askew cosplayers, and had them all come up front for selfies.

He said now he has an idea for Dogma 2, which just might start filming later this year!

The Cardinal Glick cosplayer was my favorite! Can’t wait to see Kevin and Jay again in June for their live Aural Sects tour! He also said a 30th Anniversary Mallrats screening at the mall it was filmed at might be in the works with Jason Lee!!!
