I lost the job I loved, because my Trumper boss didn't like that I'm genderfluid. There are no other jobs I can do in my area, being disabled. My fiance has applied to every job he's seen for the past 4 months, gotten one interview that wasn't even in person, and didn't get the job. There haven't even been any new job listings in 2-3 weeks. Places aren't even hiring seasonal around here. So, we've been having to live off my disability and food stamps only. It's getting cold again, and we're still living in the same shitty camper. So, soon it's going to get to the point of choosing between heat and other necessities, like my meds. I've been trying to sell my old furniture and stuff out of storage, so I can buy a car, so that I can try to DoorDash or something to earn money, but no luck so far. I don't know how I'd afford the insurance anyway.

I had a horrible disease called Leptospirosis around the end of September to mid-October that caused several hospital stays. It drained our savings and made me miss a surgery that insurance now refuses to cover without an entire new round of tests (which they also won't cover), even though it's not like genetics can change.

I can't fight anymore, but I can't rest, either. I haven't had a good night's sleep in months. The only thing we've been able to do is pick up odd jobs to keep up with the overdraft fees. There is nothing for us here, but we have no way out. Even our simple goal of owning our own camper instead of living in this 42 year-old barely insulated one that his parents are letting us rent for cheap is so far out of reach now that I feel stupid for ever believing it could happen. We're certainly never going to be able to afford a house or to adopt children.

There's nothing for us in the future.

Edit: @GBMaker told me I should make a Ko-fi, so I did. If you decide to donate, I draw and make crafts if you'd like something in return. https://ko-fi.com/pajamastripes

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Still feeling REALLY depressed, but knowing someone gives a damn is doing something.

Update. My best friend, my pet rat Peep died. We found him a bit ago. He seems to have went in his sleep. He wasn't sick. He was just old. It still hurts so much, though. He's been my shining light, and now he's gone. I knew he had to go sometime, but why now? What the fuck does God have against us?!!!!

Have you considered relocating? In some areas they are begging for workers. Intro level jobs, but at least you would be getting a paycheque

It sounds like there no easy answer, but can you move? Other than your stuff in storage what has you tied there?

You can use your ko-fi account to sell your drawings and clay art. That's a start.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You can also accept art commissions using the platform.

Jobs are a numbers game. Apply to everything, even stuff you’re borderline unqualified for.

You can plead your need on https://www.modestneeds.org/index.asp. That'll put you in front of folks that help folks out.

You have all my sympathy. Society should be set up to take care of the people living in it. It is not a ladder to climb.

One part of me wants to laugh bc this is ridiculous, one part is angry bc it should be different and the largest part is just tired and sad

Unfortunately, a lot of these laws don't apply to companies with a small number of employees.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This time of year, FedEx and UPS are always hiring. At least your fiance would have something for a while, and most likely he'd be able >

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

to hold the job after the holidays are over if he enjoys it.

Go to http://www.findhelp.org/ for anything having to do with survival, including food, shelter, and medical assistance. US only.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would jump on that ko-fi account ASAP while your post still has a large viewing audience.

What sort of area do you live in? If you can get yourself to places like goodwill and the post office maybe try reselling. You can -

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Buddy Peep held out for you as long as he could. Now it's time to return the favor. Hang on, for peep's memory. Visit food banks and such,

Apply for assistance and they can also give you a huge list of charities you can use as needed in meanwhile. Don't give up. I grew up

Can you share some of your favorite drawings you did?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll have to find them, but sure.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think there have been some changes in overdraft fees. Just a drop in the bucket, but you may be able to stop those or even get refunds.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Take our internet points for good luck. Keep living and life will hopefully get better.

I care. I'm in Washington. If I can help you locally, great. If you want to message, great. If nothing else, you were heard.

Gender identity is a protected class under federal law. Contact the better business bureau, or the ACLU.

Anything you can do online? Look up Google career certificates that teach you new online skills

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your disability is also protected grounds under federal law. Like. You have so much against your employer

3 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 0

I see. Well, it’s still free to call the ACLU for guidance; this seems right up their alley.

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I’m sure this seems like so much work right now. And you’ve gotten hit so hard, depression is a pretty normal response…

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

But I hope you can get your internal resource together and call. You KNOW you’ve been screwed and fighting could get you back on your feet.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They still need to accommodate your condition, and didn't. You have tests and whatnot, needed surgery... seems fairly cut and dry.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yup! Im trans so I get it. Yeah we’re protected but they fire us for other stupid reasons & no one seems take that into consideration PEACE

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Even based on that you're covered under federal law. Encouraging you to quit by assigning you duties you can't perform is the same as firing

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You have every right in the world to be who you are, but not for you, and not for me, but for those who come after, who ask(Q) Who can I be?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have shared something very private about yourself, and I want to honor that, but more, I wish you could stand on my shoulders for all to

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

see, that you can BE YOU!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very sorry that life is so hard for you and your loved one. v

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But life can change. I would have never thought it possible at the time, but my future is far better then expected. Please keep on going!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Go to https://ko-fi.com and make an account there. Then post the link here. Some of us might buy you a few "coffees" to help you out.

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 5

I did the thing. I draw and make stuff with clay if you'd like something in return. https://ko-fi.com/pajamastripes

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Excellent! Now place your clickable link in your post description. Also, set up a donation up/down "clicker" to make donating easy.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

How do I do that?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Imgur allows you to edit your post description and add text. Ko-fi has a list of options for your front page; select the donation "clicker".

Start looking for remote work. What type of work are you both looking for?

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Some ideas on good internet for remote work: 1) LTE Hotspot + metered mode in Windows (or other 3rd party apps that stop background data).

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

2) Borrow: Ask a neighbor to use their wifi 3) public: Taco bell parking lot, shopping malls, etc, 4) Xfinity has wifi hotspots free for

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

customers. Get Xfinity login pwd from a friend.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think what they mean is their area doesn't game good enough internet, as in, the town isn't wired for it worth shit. Common in rural US.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can't do remote. Only internet out here doesn't meet the requirements. I've tried every one I could find.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Do you have 5G access through the cellphone network? How about 4G?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best we get is LTE, and it isn't very reliable. They won't even do a hot spot out here unless I do the really limited one on my phone.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What type of work are you looking for?

I'm good at office stuff like schedules and customer service, and I speak 3 languages.

Stab in the dark but have you applied to be an office manager for a small business or a restaurant?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Op, can you look for work in other areas? It may mean you have to move, but if it's between that or destitution?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can't afford to move.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh wow. You sound like an amazing asset! Have you thought about doing freelance translation? It’s gig-work, but since everything else sucks.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This. It could even get you some leads on full time work but if nothing else it’s some extra cash and can be done remotely.
