A belated cakeday post:

Instead of animals, bananas or success stories, I'd like to share this peaceful place with you guys.

Lots and lots of space left, during winter the snow remains untouched.

This alley leads to cozy nooks off the main paths, where the graves are almost hidden by shrubbery.

One of the four main pathways to the different sectors; the birches stretch on for some more, outside of the picture.

This open, unsecluded area is often visited by elderly people, who sit down and just view over the meandering rows of graves. Whenever I meet somebody, quiet greetings and looks of mutual respect are exchanged.

I realise that graveyards may be considered unorthodox places to visit regularly, some of you may mutter "egdy" under your breaths, but I simply enjoy the peacefulness of the place, that doesn't look like death at all.

Not very spooky is it?

German cemeteries used to have tough regulations as to how you could or could not decorate individual graves, although nowadays the bereaved are mostly free to create their beloved's last resting place whichever way they like.

Some people recreate statues of their relatives, others prefer minimalistic urn graves.
