In principle, no.

While some variety of figs are self-pollinating (so not *every* fig) - for figs that rely on fig wasps for pollination, a female wasp enters the fig to lay eggs, and in the process, she gets trapped and dies inside. The fig then produces an enzyme called ficin, which digests the wasp's body, turning it into nutrients for the plant.
