So, y'all are fed up with the direction imgur is taking? Some of you express their rage by excessively posting soft porn (and a bit of hardcore, too), others by posting black images. But what all of you are still doing is posting - and voting. And everytime you do this, the little cash register at the back office goes "ching". Because every action of yours is a user interaction that can be sold to the advertisers.

Stop that.

One way - and it's a good way - to hit them where it hurts is to stop using imgur, as someone proposed we do on September 1.
The other way is a bit more involved - stop the ads. The revenue comes from the ads, and without ads, there's no revenue. For imgurians in Europe, that's laughably easy and works on every device, for every app: set your DNS as described at https://www.joindns4.eu/for-public

Yes, if you're computer savvy, there are dozens of other ways, other DNS and local filtering in hardware or software. Also, you shouldn't use this if you want to hide anything from your authorities or possibly powerful organisations that may have a grudge against you. Next option: use an effective adblocker in your browser. Downside of that is that this only works for your browser. And browser adblocking is legally contested in some countries.

If you don't want to mess around with browser extensions, you can switch to a browser with integrated ad-blocking. For PC and Android, that could be Brave https://brave.com/

Brave is based on Chromium, so almost anything that goes on Chrome also goes on Brave - except ads. Brave still supports history and passwort storage, so you're not losing out on comfort there.

If that's not good enough for you, there's one more piece of heavy ordnance before you need to dive into the depths of TOR - Mullvad. https://mullvad.net/en/browser

Basically, Mullvad wants to sell you their VPN service. But they also provide, free of charge, their browser. This little beast is based on the TOR browser - and with respect to net anonymity, it's the next best thing to TOR. The downside is that it's NOT user-friendly. No automatic search or URL completion. No browser history. No password storage. On the upside, it does everything it can to hide your identity - down to obfuscating browser fingerprinting.
