She's a Chocolate lab. 8 weeks old. I'm an army veteran diagnosed with 70% PTSD disability from the VA. My wife said a dog would help me with everything a while back (deployed in 2013) and she recently surprised me with this little girl and she has made my life worth living. Like many others I never got help for my PTSD almost cost me my marriage and my life on a few occasions. I'm not one to whore out my military service for anything. This dog has really helped me and that's why I mention it. Maybe someone else will see this and go their local shelter instead of liquor store for help. This dog isn't even trained and she knows when I'm feeling a little down and will lick my chin or distract me with play time.

TLDR: I love my dog

Super playful.

Not gonna lie. I'm sad your second sentence didn't end with "And together we fight crime"

To my mind, there is nothing better in this world than a dog. God bless you all: dog, wife, you.

I have a chocolate lab too! He's the best. Enjoy your wonderful girl and never leave food in an even remotely accessible location.

Labs are the best. They always know when you're down, and how to cheer you up. Just looking into their eyes gives my heart that melty feelin

For a second I thought you'd pierced her side with the wrench clip... freaked out

If you have the resources look into training her and getting her certified as a service dog.

What a cutie!!!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Advice? Labs teethe for a YEAR or two! Keep her on things she can chew other than your stuff. Freeze chew toys, rotate them, really helps!

Also Kong toys filled with peanut butter, mashed bananas, and a little honey and frozen will be your life saver. Along with Nylabones.

I wonder if other big dogs do as well. My american bulldog has been a motherfucker about that.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They do! Rottweilers and choco lab/Chesapeake Bays love to nom on everything. Keep treats and toys nearby, replace and treat when good (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Choices are made. It really helps because most of the big 'uns just want to make you happy. Super good praise when they choose on their own.

She's beautiful btw. Teared up a bit, but I'm a chick, so there's that.

im a guy and chocolate pups make me tear up...remind me of my first dog.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm a male cop currently tearing up from how cute this pup is.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you. She will be teething that long?! She's already chewing on everything. Oh lawdy

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Whenever you catch her chewing redirect her with a chew appropriate toy and praise her with treats when you catch her chewing on toys. (1)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2) Positive reinforcement with labs works wonders. They aim to please. My lab was a chewer as a puppy but now he chews only on toys.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can buy anti-chew sprays but they can have marginal effectiveness, I know people have put spicy stuff on things they don't want chewed.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cayenne pepper, or something might dissuade her from chewing. Use sparingly of course.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We got something like that, our dog would seek it out to lick it off things. He's special. We say he takes after my wife.
