My wife is nicer than me in some ways and thinks that assholes are worth listening to because sometimes they have good points. I don't feel like that's what I want to do in my life...

You know who I’m not friends with? White supremacists or conservative Christians. I have no time for anyone who is going to speak hate, intolerance, or tell others how they should live their lives. Unfortunately conservatives do these things than most, which is why I have only a few conservative friends.

I used to have conservative friends. But I don't stay friends with people who think the Sandy Hook victims were just "crisis actors".

In my experience, it's simultaneously exhausting and boring to be friends with someone when one thing is their entire personality.

I guess it depends on how quick a person is to label someone an asshole. If someone who is honest and forthright is going to get labeled an asshole because they say things that are unpopular, then yeah, maybe it's worth listening to "assholes" sometimes, but someone who is just completely up their own ass and couldn't care less what happens to anyone rarely is unless you need specific knowledge they possess.
