Does somebody have some Insulin for me?

Jun 21, 2021 12:03 AM

Sadly, I can't spare you $400 for insulin

Unmute at own risk!

Edit: Thanks for the upvotes!

I don't actually need Insulin. That was a joke (bc kitten = sweet). ;)

And while I actually have type 2 diabetes, it is well under control without Insulin. Thanks for asking.

But since I live in Germany, Insulin would be free of charge if I needed it like my mother once did.

diabeetus

I could, but express postage would drive that price right up

Its both beautiful and tragic how a misunderstood joke has led to so many offers of help. Its a shame that its a flinch reaction though

This definitely gave me all the diabeetus

Seeing a lot of comments about how the US health care system is fucked. What they aren't mentioning is that it's actually greed run 1/

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unchecked in a system that "trusts" drug manufacturers to price their products fairly. There was a guy who tried to do something 2/

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

About this but on top of not doing enough on its own, y'all wouldn't like his name. Oh and congress and DOJ blocked him. 3/3

I'm sorry for your cost of insulin :( America is fucked.

5 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 1

True. Yet I don’t get why would immigrants from all over the world would want to come here. I’d move to Mexico or Europe, or Japan or Korea

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Nope, already full with the Syrian refugees. We'll build a wall over the Atlantic to stop ya'll from pouring in. Obviously you're paying.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a variety of reasons somebody might want to immigrate to the US, despite our obvious problems. Somewhat lesser chance of being /1

executed by Colombian coke smugglers than in some countries, for example. Despite this country's numerous faults, in a lot of cases, /2

we're still better than the alternative. Especially if the alternative is dying. /3

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Insulin prices are outrageous in the U.S,though thankfully, not as outrageous as $400 a shot.Even millionaires would have trouble paying that

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can't you import them?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

it's about $560 for the Humalog Mix 50/50 KwikPen (5 pen x 3mm) if bought in the US, only $110 if bought from Canada

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

~€40 in NL

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't have insurance, reached out to the company that makes insulin in my region. Through them I pay $60/mo. Every 3 months I get /

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A shipment that covers me for the next three months. By which I mean I currently have a full mini fridge in overstock due to extra sent /

In short: I sold my dead pancreas' soul to a corporate scheme based on brand loyalty for a medical necessity to save cash.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Try $13,000 per vial for specialized insulin like the Humilin R U-500

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

As a type 1, what the hell is so special about that one?!

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's when your body is super shitty and resists/builds tolerance to "normal" insulin amounts. Like... If 200 units isn't enough. The fucked/

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Up part is people that need ru500 are the ones that are already multiple insulins (ie that pod on the leg + shots). Either way they go broke

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

$450 for insulin, you say?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, $470, as I said

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How does one afford $500 for that?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

+1 for awesome name

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I honestly don't know - $550 for one shot is so much...
