He was abusive when I was younger and spent time in and out of jail. Can't help but wonder how much of my mental illness stems from how he treated me.

Frankly, I've never been close to either of you.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

I honestly can't wait for my abusive parents to finally kick the bucket.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did he? Was it the only thing in the end?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I struggle with how I feel about my dad. He didn’t make growing up fun or easy. A lot of problems I have are from him. I love him. 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He acts like he did nothing wrong. Bring something up and he has no idea what your talking about. Didn’t happen. I do not like my dad. 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So if you get adopted by sick dads you can get serial bereavement?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got 3 days no pay when my grandmother passed.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lucky. I get 2 for a first degree relative. I live 2 states away. Wasnt at my grandpas viewing.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Obviously you are not American.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better than the the few days i was given (maybe it was a week?) but yea, grief is weird, sorry you have to find out.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

30?! Shit my job only gave me 3 when my mother died. Had to use sick time and PTO and had to go back after only 2 weeks. That sucked.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You could call it his final gift to you.

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Maybe his only gift

Yanno what I got when my dad died of pancreatic cancer on New Year’s Eve? I got my holiday pay taken away. At least the three days I took…

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

off were excused.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was denied when my aunt passed from breast cancer…

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s usually for your immediate family.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We got 3 days... where do you work.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey, 30 days is 30 days

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Take what you can. If the policy doesn't specify you have to like the parent, then you certainly don't have to.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

when my dad died last year I found out we get 3 days. But my manager told me not to do the paperwork and let me cry on my couch for 2 weeks

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My dad passed away this morning. We never had a relationship but it hit me hard that I will never have the chance to try. It hurts a lot

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

30 days?! Around here, the death of a close relative gets you two

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

30? not 2-3?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lucky you, I got 3 days when my mom passed.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

30 paid days? Which country are you in?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck! I get 3 days and that’s only for moms dads and siblings

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When mine died I wasn’t sad. But I also had a surprising amount of emotions to work through despite hating him. You never know how it’ll hit

Sometimes it's better if they leave rather than stay and torture you and your mother. Like mine did.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I experienced the same thing! My mom and I weren't particularly close, I didn't like the decisions she made. She died suddenly and I was

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Messed up for like 2 years afterwards

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

When I lost my uncle I had to chose taking the day for the funeral or after his death. My grandma died 3 days before so I got to "bundle"

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

god that makes me sick remembering that... Gonna go have a good cry.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You guys are getting days off?

5 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Paid even.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you optimize the timing you could get 8 days and then 25 years to life.

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Because we all know that grief only lasts four days and then, we’re over the loss

5 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 0

We can only afford to lose profits of your labor for 4 days. My yacht demands it.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I literally got one day off for losing my father unexpectedly.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think there's official days in the policy, but HR are flexible. Namely because mental health. Wouldn't give a shit to my work if it happen

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1 day if the funeral is on weekday. Seems US has something better than Finland fe.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 1

5 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

I got 5 because I had to go out of state. In state would have been 3

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same, only for an immediate family member.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

2 here

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same. And 2 two of those are "manager's discretion for traveling time." Dafuq. Luckily, actual management is actually good and fudges it.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

When I went back after my three days off everyone asked if I was feeling better like I had been out sick with the cold

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3?! I only get 2.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0
