This journey has been hell.
Friday - Motoko Kittynagi (15 year cat) hasn't been eating for a few days, so we bring her into the vet to have a checkup. Full bloodwork, x-ray and an ultrasound. They find some sort of mass inside her intestine. Unsure if it's a tumor or a foreign body, but it doesn't look good. Vet gives her some barium for a follow up x-ray to see if she's able to pass food. She eats a little at the vet, and suddenly a bit of hope that she might be on the mend. Come back and wait for the wife to come home from work to let her know. At 10:00, she throws everything up, even the food the vet gave her. A solid 2 minutes of everything she had in her system coming back up. We are devastated. We both break down. Talk to roommates to calm down and explain everything that is going on. I lose my ability to speak. Can't get words out, stuttering so bad I'm speaking at less than 1 word a minute. Roommate is first aid, and treats me for shock. Go back to my girl, and she's feeling a little better, but still not eating. Go to sleep.
Saturday - wake up to bring cat to vet for follow-up scans. Ready to make "the call". While at the vet, I start feeling off (learn kitty scans look ok. Bariums passing the mass, giving meds to induce appetite and stop vomiting). I'm not speaking again, and there feels like an elephant on my chest, feeling faint, and blacking out. Ambulance is called. Kitty goes home with roommates, I go to hospital. Several tests later, learn that I had Atrial fibrillation, which caused me to have a stroke. Learn that I didn't suffer shock the night before, but a TIA (warning stroke). I am only 33 years old.
Sunday - given order of events. Grief from kitty news caused a panic attack, which in turn caused the A-Fib, which in turn caused the stroke
Tuesday (today) - been in hospital since Saturday, unable to help wife with Kitty. Still hasn't eaten, decision is made. I'm broken, sad, and feeling guilty that I couldn't be there, either for my wife, or my beautiful Motoko.
Please, do me a favor, Imgur; if you have a pet, please give them an extra hug for me. Cherish the time you have. And a PSA; ,strokes are nothing to screw around with. Take care of yourselves
