I've seen a lot of cosplay. And I'm a big fan of Witcher characters. I didn't think I've been more impressed and excited about a cosplay than I am about your work and future outfit. Can't wait for the next post, can't wait for your complete costume one day. Also: Ciri deserves great armor! I hope Witcher 4 finds Ciri with options like these that you're working on. Thanks for sharing!

Real leather requires more care than pleather; real leather needs to be conditioned regularly, like with a cream. Just like how human skin can dry out if not moisturized regularly, lol.

I mean, yes & no, kind of depends on use, and pleather will flake apart after not too much real use, especially at rub & fold points, which no amount of creams will solve.

Thats a very likely possibility! I have not worked with leather yet so I don’t have the skill set (but I would like to learn!), and I wanted to use something synthetic mainly for the cost savings. As for the breathability of pleather/vinyl… they say beauty is pain and sometimes so is cosplay

Real leather is much nicer to work, and you can usually find it cheap or free, sometimes with really good wear patina for costumes ready made (dumped sofas + scalpel = profit)

Leather like that pleather is simulating would likely handle about the same as the pleather. It would just feel and smell so much better.

Punching and riveting leather is pretty easy. Hand stitching takes some practise, and machine stitching needs a pretty powerful machine depending on the thickness.
Lots of places sell offcuts cheap that are great for small pieces and getting comfortable with the material, and it's super satisfying once you do.
