I'd say take it like a tasting guideline. It serves to show you what flavors to look for but everyone will experience a whiskey uniquely.

That was my thought as well but wasn't sure if any of it was actually measurable like alpha-acid content in beer.

Peat (what casues smokiness) is quantified in parts per million but doesn't accurately predict smokiness. 2 whisky's w/ the same 1/2

Bourbon has a relatively flat flavor profile to scotch: only new smoked oak barrels, over 50% corn. So only one entry would be needed.

Bourbon isn't similar to whiskey. It's its own distinct spirit. Uniquely American, which is why so many Americans enjoy it.
