How to make a Scouting Legion Hoodie

Supplies!

For this craft you will need:
-an exacto Knife
-a metal straight edge
-Fabric paints (I used Tulip Soft Matte in White, Black, and Marine Blue, but they make grays if you'd rather not mix your own)
-Paint Brushes (you're gonna want at least one really small one)
-Masking Tape
-A black sharpie
-A green hoodie (wash it first, especially if it's a new hoodie)
-(Optional) Quilter's Plastic Template

Download this template from: http://th03.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2013/150/a/4/scouting_legion_patch_lineart__attack_on_titan__by_braeven-d675pxb.png (credit to Braeven of DeviantArt) and print off four copies of it. You're gonna cut out a stencil for each different color using an exacto knife. Use a straight edge for the straight lines. You *can* just leave it as paper stencils if you're just gonna do it once and save yourself some money, BUT if you tape your templates to some Quilter's Plastic Template and cut them out of that you'll have more durable stencils that won't curl up on you and you'll get cleaner edges.

Clamp your hoodie to a board of some sort so that it stays flat while you're working with it. The first stencil will be this shape. It's the outside line of the shield in the back, and it's also the first layer to get painted (it's the light gray part). Tape down the sides and corners of your stencil and make sure it's not gonna slide around. You'll also note the masking tape around it, I did that to mark where the corners of the stencil should go so that they all line up right.

Make sure each layer is completely dry before starting the next. This is what stencils two and three will look like. (sorry I didn't get a pic of just two) Layer two is the dark gray bits, and layer three is the blue wing.

last layer is the white wing, and this one will probably take a couple coats to cover entirely. Here you can also clearly see what happens when you use a paper stencil. my edges bled a lot on this one.

Touching up. Make sure you save any leftover paint from each layer because you WILL need to touch up some edges. This is where your tiny brush comes in handy.

Last step is to outline everything with the black sharpie (or with black paint if you're really confident in you painting skills. I am not.) again, wait for everything to be totally dry before you do this. The one drawback to doing this with sharpie is that it will eventually fade with repeat washings, but you can always just touch it up when needed.

And you're done! Let it cure for a few days according to the instructions on your fabric paint before washing it inside out. I recommend just washing it inside out every time you do it.
