How we got sci fi back in the 70s

So back when I was a kid, no internet, TV was limited to 3 channels, then 4(PBS started), information on sci fi was VERY limited. Then...THIS came out. Starlog.
The first issue came out in 1976. As you can see by the cover, this was all we had at the time for sci fi.

Space 1999. It looked fantastic, but...confusing at times. I LOVED the Eagles, my cousins had a large size scale to action figure toy of that, and I loved that. Wish I could have asked for it from them before they tossed it in the 80s.

A section on star trek. Doomsday machine, even to this day, massively holds up. It's pacing is almost like a mini movie. The music heightened tension to the utmost.
Of course all my friends loved Gamemasters, simply for that one lady in the tinfoil bikini. I think she did a Playboy spread once.

Here's something for the puzzle freaks.

And here's early 77. Preview of a spectacular new science fiction movie.

This editorial shows how bleak the scene for the magazine was. Still...they fought on. Little did they know...

Anyone remember The Man From Atlantis? Aka: Aquaman for NBC?

Here's some further issues. Covers only. If there's ones you want to see, I can post a gallery from any issue up to 374

Honestly, I really liked Moonraker back then. But hey, I was a kid, I didn't know any better.

This was my first issue I bought. I was WAY into The Black Hole. Just something about it. This issue also had some other interesting articles, including pinball art for a contest. Dunno if they ever made a full pinball machine out of it.

"The Internet Archive" had all of them them as PDFs a few years back. No idea what the current status is...

Almost EVERYONE I've ever talked to about it, from gradeschool, highschool, and beyond, HATED it. Or said it was stupid, slow, uninteresting, and completely confusing ending.

The ending mesmerized me as a 6 yr old. It was terrifying and cool.
