Nothing travels faster than bad news … the concept was abandoned, the ship was never welcome.

Now you are going to need a fresh cup of really hot tea.

The Nutri-Matic Drinks Synthesizer claimed to produce the widest possible range of drinks personally matched to the tastes and metabolism of whoever cared to use it. When put to the test, however, it invariably produced a plastic cup filled with a liquid which was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.

Iirc the improbability drive is *specifically* not infinite. The calculations need to land on a specific, but finite, probability.

when a student was cleaning up after a rather unsuccessful physicists party he found himself reasoning this way: if it is virtually impossible then logically it must be finitely improbable. so to make the infinite improbability drive you just needed to work out exactly how improbable it is feed that figure into a finite improbability generator and give it a fresh cup of really hot tea...and turn it on.
